This happened to me about once a week. If you are in a BG, ALT-F4 all affected chars and immediately relog into them. You will still be in the BG.
perhaps better option, and less stressfull to the cpu and ram
override DNP on (so ALL keys get send)
/logout
wait 20sec
press enter to relog with all toons
