Diablo3, new Multi-Boxing opportunities?

Re-installed D2 over the weekend myself. Wasted many of my youthful hours/days/years clicking. But I havn't played in a good 2 years so its nice to be back for a bit. See how far I get on Ladder USWest

I got 3 chars up on useast ladder right now, 2 sorcs & hdin mid 500s, workin to get em up heh

Q: When will Diablo III be released?

A: It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players.

As for quests..:
So there is definitely going to be more and better quests than d2.

Q: What will questing be like in Diablo III? Will it be similar to Diablo II?

A: Our plans for the story and quest mechanics are still under wraps. We'll go into detail on those elements of the game at a later date. We can say, however, that we expect to have class-based quests in addition to the main story-line quests.

But like in D2, there were six quests per zone, and you had to do them in order to progress.

A1- everything skippable except the act boss.
A2- the first quest is skippable, but you did need to get the 3 parts, although you get to keep the cube for nightmare/hell. Summoner is required, but is along the way.
A3- Just need to get the flail parts, everything else is skippable.
A4- Just need boss.
A5- The ancients are required, but are on the way there. Everything else is skippable.

This is without help. I don't remember the exact restrictions that were added, but long ago you could take a portal to the act boss's room, have them killed, then go right to the next act. This doesn't work anymore.

I imagine the quests will be similar, they will either have rewards that you want to get(permanent boost) or are required to get to the next area. A mix of both most likely. EXP rewards aren't out of the question which could mean more skipables that don't have otherwise good rewards.

You know what stands out the most? Horrible gear drops. You could play the game for days on end, and never get anything good.

The other thing is that there is no roll. It just drops out of the mob and who ever has the faster click wins it. They need to fix that, lost tons of suff cause of that.

So I finally go the gameplay video to download and watched it this morning.

WTF?

Severely disapointed. Its Diablo 2 with better graphics (which look good!). But its the same god damn game. You can't even rotate the camera angle!!!!

I'm sure teh Diablo fanboys will eat this thing up... but otherwise... damn. What a let down.

Well, that's the formula. Diablo 2 was Diablo 1 with better graphics and loot. Diablo 3 will be Diablo 2 with better graphics and loot. 20+ million copies each of D2 and D2:LoD shows that this formula works. D3 will easily surpass the 20+ million mark if they stick to it. It was never intended to be a WoW sequel in gameplay style - they wanted a fast-paced hack'n'slash looter like the first two, so that's what they're making. They've got to save the next MMO for WoW 2.

There is a 'zoom' mode for the camera to get the close-ups of you tearing apart enemies, but I don't think there's a need to rotate the camera. Many spells require area to target with the mouse, and the static overhead works best for that. The gameplay video was better than I expected. I was expecting something similar to Mythos, but the D3 preview easily looks nicer and more solid than Mythos (which is a fun game itself).

I hope that Blizzard doesn't spread themselves too thin. Granted that WOW makes a ton of money for them but probably half (at least 1/3) of the money goes to support. They are still finishing up StarCraft 2 and WotLK; they just started D3 and they are working on another MMORPG. I say that the next MMORPG will be announced next year, maybe at E3, that way they have time to make a demo like they did with D3. They didn't just say D3 was coming out, they had 2 lvls and 2 classes already. I just hope that the money for D3 and the next MMORPG will not take too much money away from WOW. The other thing is too if AOC and WAR does survive and come out with an expansion, WOW might come out with another expansion. God I hope that the expansion comes out in 4 years, it is a pain to rush my toons to 70 so i can rush them to 80 (i just want to see and kill the end boss at least once and have the best PVE gear).
