If you're JUST playing WoW, you don't need a monster system.

Tigerdirect has a Geforce 8800GT for about $100. XFX brand. I bought one, its great.
The Core2Duo CPU is like $170 for a 2.66ghz one, and $190 for a 3ghz one.
That blows your budget right there.
I bought a Asus P5Q Pro mobo, and some DDR2 800 ram, dual channle (2GB) - that was another $200.

Then I realized my current PSU wasn't good enough, so I spent another $150 on that. (you can get one cheaper I'm sure).

What I'm saying is that for $300, you're not going to get very far.... I tired, and ended up spending like $650.

Remember, if you upgrade just one aspect of your system, you're gonig to bottleneck it.

Based off the things I posted above.. that's in my budget upgrading my motherboard, processor, and memory. how does $290 blow my budget? I leaves a good $80~ for memory which is usually enough >.>

HDD?
PSU?

Having a hot-rod CPU with a shit video card and a slow HDD is a waste of money IMO.

And then when you want to buy a hot-rod video card, you better make sure you've got the PSU to handle it.
