It's worth it if you feel it's worth it. You don't need anyone's validation to multibox except your own.
That being said, having goals for multiboxing is certainly a good idea. Personally, I find multiboxing "worth it" because my goal is to prove that hybrid groups can perform at the same capacity as standard dps/tank/heal classes. Multiboxing may be a difficult way of proving this, but it is personally satisfying when I do succeed in a instance/heroic/raid.
If you're multiboxing just because you think other people think it's cool, then it is definitely not worth it. You should multibox because YOU enjoy it, and for no other reason.
Try it out with some free trial accounts if you're not sure.

Welcome to the Forums !
Here is my two - bits. I 2 boxed for about 6 months. Was it fun yes ! Was it worth it to me ? Yes ! But a little heads up ... 3 and 4 boxing so much more fun. So if you can pull it off think of getting a 3rd account.
Marathoning: the triumph of desire over reason
You could run Hunter and a healer for instance runs, Hunter doing dps, Pet tanking and a Pally/Shaman/Priest doing the heals. It worked pretty well. But I prefer doing 3xboxing or more because you can do more stuff than doing 2-boxing.
I will tell you how to test your theory, the way I decided to dualbox. Get a 2nd account (trial). Make 2 mages or 2 shaman. Blast through newbie areas. You'll be hooked in no time. Honestly, it was so much fun when I tried it that I couldn't believe it. Dualboxing made the game seem new again. Every little spell and ability somehow seems cooler when you're doing it twice at the same time.![]()

I'd have to agree here. I run with a guildie all the time and she's a beta vet of the game. she's got 70s of damn near every class on both sides and i started multiboxing with her in my party. she even admits to me making the game more fun and enjoyable for her. even tho i am the one that multiboxes in the party and not her, she even gets a thrill from it. i even tried NE hunters and loved it. and i hate playing NE/Taurens/Drae on account that their movement seems slower than the other classes. i'm used to running dwarfs and gnomes. half the time i use nogginfogger elixir for the shrinking buff. but multiboxing NE hunters for the shadowmeld with cats w/stealth will be a fun experience in the BGs now.
I know for myself, dual-boxing renewed my interest in the game - I was ready to quit and move on, but I saw the battlechest at BestBuy, and on whim gave it a try.
I'm hooked.![]()
My vote is it's completely worth it, every cent and ounce of effort. It opens many doors to you, in terms of what you can do, and it makes it a whole new game. I was utterly burned out on the post-70 game: I burned out on raiding, so i got into PvP. Did that for months, got a full - and I mean full - S1 set, fought every match, gemmed and geared my toon out, got pretty good at it, too. I started going for S3 and Arenas, and got disgusted with the blatant cheating and attitudes of the Arena crowd. Did'nt have the fortitude to level alts solo. I was logging in less and less, and felt like I was falling further and further behind, because like everyone else, I was basing "fun" on gear and rep and epics, and the race to grind out honor and marks.
Meh.
Now, i play for ME. I level as fast as I want, and if I take a night off, I don't get that "I'm losing gold/honor/marks!" feeling. I can handle most quests, and my goal is to solo 5 man quests all the way through Outlands, someday. If I don't make it, whatever, it's cool. I have FUN. I log off when I want, not when the raid is over, not when I have enough gold or honor or whatever. Quest half done? I'll get to it tomorrow. Or the day after. I'm learning how ALL the classes work, and how classes work together. I'm doing ALL the quests, and boy, did I miss out on a lot leveling my main!
Worth it? I can't imagine not doing it, now. It made the game better in ways you can only discover by doing it.![]()

I just started 2 boxing , and wow it is fun , still really new at this . I am searching these forums for things that will make things a bit better lol I have a main with epic mount and a alt without the epic so main has to follow the alt around ... slow mode all over .I am in window mode also ha until I get my other monitor hooked up. I do have questions about 2 boxing that maybe everyone can help me with by putting some links below or shoot me a PM. hat would be very helpful because I tend to get lost in these forums. Thank you
Totally agree with everyone here.
Gadzooks is right, you can play for for yourself. Log out whenever you want, no nagging ppl begging to stay.
Currently I play with my gf, she has 2 chars, and i have two, so group of 4.It's amazing how fast we kill stuff. Fancy doing an instance, no problem, with 4 it's pretty do-able.
Multiboxing really gives this game a new boost. Still doing it only with 2 of the same class, going to try different classes.
