Default Powerlevelling with the opposite faction.

Last night I started levelling just one shaman on alliance side so I could play with some in game friends that play more on the alliance side.

I don't want to drag any of my friends in to trying to powerlevel this character and was thinking what a pain it is going to be without my 70's to help level.

I then started to wonder if a horde 70 could help to level an alliance 70 (and vice versa).

Obviously instances are totally out, but I got to thinking whether the XP dynamic would operate the same if a member of the opposite faction kills your tagged mobs.

If blizzard implemented the XP reduction based on damage to the mob in the same way for the opposition as for your own faction then obviously this wouldn't make a difference, but if they didn't then it would be viable for my character to just run around hitting mobs with the mace and having the 70 one shot them, for full XP.

The only reason I can think of for blizzard not to be using the same logic is that a high level character could effectively stop someone levelling by just following them round and killing their mobs.

As usual though I had this thought whilst lying in bed away from wow and now I'm at work so can't test it for myself.

Does anyone have any experience of this? (If not I will try it tonight and feedback what I learn)

Sorry I cant add anything to it but I would love to hear about your expericences. I play on a PvE server myself so it is possible to have both hordies and alliance toons on the same account/server

    Default XP Loss

Well, I play Horde and I know from having alliance try to 'take' my kill (as if that even works, sheesh!) that when an alliance kills your mob you do lose a little xp. I don't see why it'd be any different than when someone of any faction kills one of your tagged mobs. Probably the same formula for both same and opposet faction kill stealing. Not 100% sure.

Not at home to try this, but this works for same faction.
Group at least 2 low level toons together and let them attack a mob. Send in an un-grouped, high level pet to finish the kill.
The 2 low level group characters should get full exp for the kill. But you must let the pet do all the damage.

Give it a shot and let us know your results.

How blinkered am i.... this is the perfect solution.... I was thinking of two boxing.

However I have 3 accounts so can 3 box (with one being the level 70 horde and try that).

I've actually done this before. It basically is the same xp formula of having an out of group character of the same faction helping you out. Except that you can't follow, heal, or trade with opposite faction members. It's not really ideal and the only way it is half way worth it is if the opposite faction "helper" is around the same level range as you, or in other words, the mob is no higher than orange to the lowbie and no lower than green to the highbe.

Even then you'd be alt-tabbing like crazy.

Why? You could still use keyclone for both factions. not being grouped doesnt mean the slave wont get the key broadcasts.

Yes but the follower won't be following perfectly. They will quickly be headed in the wrong direction. Go ahead and try it out if you like I'm just saying w/o /follow it's going to be a pain in the ass.

Well actually if you have different movement keys for each toon it might not be too bad. Didn't think about that. I did this along time ago before I ever even heard of Keyclone.
