    Default Keyclone: Question.

I'm not sure that I will want to use Keyclone or not, however I'm going to try triple boxing with two PCs. If I send keystrokes from PC1 using Multibox would Keyclone work and then send each client (2 & 3) the keys, or would I need Keyclone on both PCs?

if you are going to run more than one clone on a single pc you WILL need keyclone. The only other product that I know of that does what keyclone does is AHK and AHK is pretty intensive when it comes to scripting. KeyClone worked right out of the box for me.

If you will need one or two keyclones I am not sure. Someone else will need to answer that.

You need a keyclone license for each machine, but they are only $10. I use keyclone on 2 PCs to 5 box. 2 on one, 3 on the other. Works great (so far).

yes, you would need a single keyclone per machine... then you tie them all together. there really is no limit, other then latency, to the number of keyclones you can chain together.

i recommend a central 'main' keyclone with the others connected to it. that way, keys from your main will be sent up to your main keyclone then out sequentially to the other keyclones, and sent down to their local clones in parallel.

if you have any problems, let me know and i'll fix it (what fun is it if things aren't working)

you can see my work list on the top post of this thread:

I have no issue buying one, just not 100% sure that what I'm trying to do will work, going to try with my current two plus a trial. I'm already planning on getting one keyclone for my better machine to run my existing two accounts with (one mouse keys are sent anyway). I'm just thinking that if my id3ea bombs I'm left with two codes and only use for one...

I'll give it more thought, I know for a fact I can't run three without Keyclone, does the possibility to run three outweigh the issue I might have if I can't run three and have a spare key... :?

(Third account won't be bought until the forthcoming Battle Chest is released anyway, can't afford WoW + BC in separate boxes... )
Currently running 3x City of Heroes under Octopus

I know for a fact that keyclone is the ultimate unless your going hardware, Ive tried AHK and multibox and none of those 2 even compare to how easy keyclone is, I brought 3 copies for 3 comps and im loving it for 5 boxing. seriously 10 bucks a comp is so worth it unless you go the harware route

keyclone does pretty much everything that the other programs promise to do, except that it does everything i need right out of the 'box' whereas multibox, synergy, etc, have quite a lot of setup and config and even programming before things are tailored to your specific needs. keyclone requires very little setup aside from defining keys you dont want passed, round robin keys (for things like alternating which characters cast frost nova, fear, etc) and entering the network IP's you want to clone to. ive never done any programming and my knowledge of system stuff is limited to whatever i need to know to play games efficiently, and it still took me literally 20 seconds to set keyclone up. i almost gave up on synergy just reading the documentation.

i think its still worthwhile looking into programs like Synergy in combination with KC. i still use a KVM switch and a cheap mouse/keyboard which i have set up to input only to the PC the switch has selected. i can hotkey between screens with 0 delay and input without broadcasting, and then switch back to my main machine when i want to send keystrokes to all PC's. its also really nice to just grab the second mouse to target aoe's or sync mouseclicks for accepting quests etc.
