[WoW] Restarting Instances

Most people probably know this but there is a method for quickly getting back to the beginning of an instance without having to run back through respawns.

1) All toons except the leader should leave the party.
2) All toons except the leader should now logoff.
3) While in the process of logging off you will see a message saying you will be ported to your hearth location in 60 seconds. Don't worry, it only takes 20 seconds to logoff.
4) Log your toons back on. They will now all be at the beginning of the instance just inside the portal. But they will all be in their own copy of instance.
5) All toons except leader should leave the instance through the portal.
6) With the leader, invite one of the toons back into the party.
7) Promote the invited toon to be the new leader.
8 ) The former leader should now leave the party.
9) The former leader should now logoff.
10) Log back on and you will be back at the beginning of the instance.
11) Leave instance. Reform party. Reenter instance and run it again.

In some cases it may be faster or less hassle just to run back out and reset. But if you are deep into an instance and/or don't want to fight back through respawns, this is a way to do it.

Maybe there is a better way to do this. If you know of a way or if this method can be refined, post it.

what about log off all, then click reset instance?

Yeah, it might be that if you log off without leaving the party first that you will be back at the beginning of the instance with the NON-LEADER toons. If so, that will make it a little easier in that you don't have to leave the group first.

However, I believe the leader will find himself at the same spot in the instance when he logs back on. At least that's what happened the last time I tried this. I'll experiment more this weekend to see if there is a better way to do it. Maybe you have to be logged off for some amount of time before logging back in.

I'm also pretty sure that you have to be outside the instance to reset it, so the main goal is to get your toons out of the instance the most efficient way that avoids having to run back out and fight respawns.
