    Default The Skull and We

My new lead is my old Paly which is 33 and my shaman are now 27-28

Had the group in 1k last night doing some questing during which I see a local defense warning from a player about a skull NE hunter (unusual i know) doing some ganking at the boarder of 1K and simmer flats. AT that time I was far north by Whitereach and continued about my business keeping a watchful eye.

Some time goes by and after avoiding the main paths I figure I won't run into him... Or so I thought.

I was taking down some bolderkin and low and behold this NE is running up to me and stops at some distance... I quickly target him and see he's a skull and think to myself that I'm not going down without trying. I was amazed at my reflexes; no hesitation what so ever, fire and healing totems down and I'm charging my LB's on him. His croc pet warps onto one of my shaman. I open fired while he was trying to figure my group out.

I start punching the crap out of him with LB's and run my paly up and HoJ him and it lands! A ways into the fight I see I'm about to go 1 shaman down. I quickly glance at his health bar and soon it's down to 1/4 and Im down 1 shaman and another's about to die and I figure If I just keep laying it down on him I... might... actually... beat... him.?!?

Then he pots up to over 1/2 health - CRAP!

Third shammy is about to go down and he starts backing up. I run my paly into melee with him and keep my last shammy hitting him. He made short work of my paladin which is what I expected but I was just trying to buy some time and force him to change targets. Now a Paly and 3 shaman down, quickly switch to the last shaman but at that point I have a BM hunter and his pet on me. I get one last bolt off and it's over. He runs off and doesn't camp me, I think I might have gained some respect for my attempt and how far I got.

Wowarmory said he "Demonezz" was 46 but I thought a skull is 15+ lvls higher so that would put this guy at 48+

So in reflecting on this I am trying to gather what I could have done better. Gear of course helps; the shaman are wearing cloth and leather and a staff vs a shield and all leather (I've been selling everything not BoP trying to save for mounts and I have almost enough now for 2 at this point).

    So tactics

    • My paly should have had SoJ up so I could have judged him with it possibly stunning him again. I should have held off on the original HoJ until later in the fight and instead started judging him with SoJ.
    • I did however have Imp-Concentration aura up for ensuring shaman casting. I think this is still the best choice for being hailed with quick attacks.
    • Pots - get pots setup on all toons. Healing pots have the upside that if your full health they don't get consumed. So in theory it could be a single key for all toons and only the ones that need it would use it but I know thats not a perfect solution. If this had been covered properly he would have died.
    • Now the profession choices I have made some into play. My paly is and engineer/miner and his engineering is currently at 196. I should have had some sort of bomb handy to chuck at the hunter to daze or stun him.

Or is engineering the wrong choice for a paladin? I figure the utility is good for a low DPS Prot paladin.

    Any constructive advice is welcome.
(I will upload a pic of the hunter showing his health and my dead team when I get home.)

Skull is 10 or more higher than you. Nice work anyway.

Engineering is almost mandatory for a prot pally. Without it, you have only one way to (non-body) pull - Avenger's Shield. This is great and has a reasonable cooldown, but you'll want to single-stun pull from very far away sometimes, something for which the Goblin Rocket Launcher is perfect for. And the +45 stam when equipped doesn't hurt either.

    Helms, helicopters, etc help too.

You can get the boomerang trinket from Un'guro too.

Or just buy lots of ez-throw dynamite (no eng. required to use).
    So are you Jedrex?
