Here's my experience from playing with my x-keys.

Setting ONE button to:
Press move forward, press strafe left, release strafe left, release move forward

This makes you move forward for a microsecond then strafe left.

Setting two buttons, one to move forward, one to strafe left, then keycapping it with a double key cap.

This makes you move diagonal.

there's not a question of how to accomplish the task, the question is the legality of 1 key pressing 2 keys SIMULTANIOUSLY for another clone.

Yep clears it up for me - thanks for checking that out.

The flipside of this is, with the mouse I use and the keybindings I have set on it, I haven't found a way to actually do any of the formations I was hoping to do. :P

smooth transitions are not possible but some stuff can still be done... I have been saving my messing with formations until I have a final definitive answer on the 8-way dpad issue.

I managed to get a 2nd blue response on that thread when I mentioned about some controllers having 8 distinct direction buttons and wow only having 4 directions... on these devices the diagonals must be bound to BOTH adjacent directions... if this is a ToU violation then it will preclude the use of certain hardware with WoW, something I think they are keen to avoid.
