Thread: vista sp1

    Default vista sp1

My computer just downloaded service pack1 for vista. I had the 32 bit version of the OS (unfortunately), but now it's showing that I have 4 gig of memory instead of 3 gig like before. This would undoubteabley improve my boxing performance and i was thinking of trying out more toons. Is it really using 4 gig now on a 32-bit os?

No. SP1 changes the displayed number from "what the OS can use" to "how much is physically installed." The appearance changes but the reality is the same.

    Default 4 gig memory

That's too bad. I was really stoked when I booted up vista and a screen popped up saying I had 4 gig memory. Can you upgrade the 32bit vista to 64 without spending a few hundred dollars? Seems like I should be able to.

Yeah, when you bought Vista, you bought both 32 bit and 64 bit licenses. You just need to order the 64 bit DVD from Microsoft which they'll send you cheap. Here's the order page:

As nice as vita 64 is, it will be running wow in a 32 bit emulation, given wow is a 32 bit program.

That's true, but then you can utilize the thread assignment in Keyclone for your cpu and use your full 4gb of ram

Well lets all pray that Blizzard implements 64bit support in WotLK
