Follow and assist macros....

Thanks. I appreciate the help, I'm sure this is all basic for lots of you. One more question for now though. I'm trying to figure out how to make the F1 key actually be the:

/Focus

/Follow

I've founf alot of info how to make a macro do what I want to do, but really can't find away to get it to the key I want to place it on. In game, I have been unable to ficgure out how to place the macro in the F1 slot.

I personally like Bongos3 addon, It let you customize bars and buttons to size and place you like.
it also can put binding virtually on anything, Make macro and put it on bar, Shift=Click bongoe minimap button to go to binding, mouse over the button on bar, and pres key you like, it can be almost anything.
can also mouse over macro it self in macro interface, and put binding on it without pulling it on action bar, same thng you can do in spell book on any specific spell.
give it a try.

there also bartender and trinitybars, that should have similar feature.

I know neux mentioned Trinity as an alternative to bongos at the bottom of his post but I want to stress the sheer usefulness of Trinity2... I moved from bongos to trinity as it does everything bongos does and a whole lot more.

Macros ftw... Trinity allows unlimited buttons each of which can be a macro and so has unlimited macros each with a character limit of 1023 characters. for a multiboxer this is invaluable. It also has many other features such as being able to designate a unitid (target, focus, party1 etc) as the target of all actions on the buttons of a particular bar.

If you need more macros, need a decent bar mod DO get trinity it leaves every other mod in its wake

I had Bongos as long as I remember it, but now that I think about it I did switch from trinity to bongos, but thats was long, long time ago, maybe over 2 years now :P

I didn't pay attention to trinity ever since, but now that you mentioned this, I have thoughts to try it myself yet again XD

the most basic way to keybind a macro is to make one and put it on action bar, then open game menu, where says like "video" audio" "macros" and there also option for keybinding, I believe it called same thing "Key Binding", Find AsctonBar1 Button1(or what ever it called) and assign a key like 1 or Shift+1 to it (or what ever you want, as long as you don't break existing bindings, and know how to fix it back).

the other method to bind keys I already mentioned, Addons like bongos, trinitybars, bartender, BindPad, also will do the trick, but they also have learning curve, just have to play around with it, and you will be kaybinding in no time XD

Thanks, I read the beginners guide. I looked through the ui forum's too(posted there as well) wasn't much (nothing I could find) on how to set up a keybinding. I guess my error was trying to change the ones game came w/. I guess I kind of missed I need an add-on to do this part.

I'm starting to get the idea how to do my macros. I've created quite a few that work nicely. I stared w/a 5 UD warlock crew, but some people have posted it's about impossible to do heroics w/ that so I restarted a group w/ a paladin, priest and 3 locks. (a 2nd paladin as healer be better instead?). Anyway, macros for 5 locks is easier than 3 different classes so I need more spaces to put macros and I was trying to replace WoW's keybind's w/ my own......I guess I can't do that lol and need one of the add-ons to do it.

I'm going to look at both bongos and trinity to see which would work best for me. I just need alot of buttons.

I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to attach a second monitor soon too but I only have 1 monitor slot in back(I'm assuming there's a splitter for the connector's?), alt+tabing is periodically crashing one of my 5 WoW's which tends to wipe the macros ive made most recently.

Bongos seem to be what I'm looking for. Way easier imo to set up too. I really don't know what was going on w/ Trnity, but w/ Bongos I could just click and drag vthings around, easy to figure out.
