Default So I hit 1850 lastnight 5v5 but...

I pretty much dominate every team but 4 caster, 1 healer teams. Aelli do you have any tips on how to counter mage -- ele shaman -- boomkin -- lock -- disc priest. Melee teams are almost a joke now that im in full S1. But I sill struggle against caster dps teams. I beat one caster team rated 2100 and got 27 points. I pretty much stay mounted at the beggining and just bum rushed them, and dropped the ele shaman. I considered this game luck though cause I could have easily been feared . Any help or words of wisdom would help.
    thanks

faced the same rogue mage priest lock boom 9 games in a row and lost 100 points I could takeout the boom pretty quickly but they would kill my healer before i could kill another. What is the secret against mostly caster teams.

I believe the word is grounding totems.

Against 4x caster DPS teams, 5x grounding totems are fine for the first alpha strike but then they're on cooldown for 15 seconds. :P

First things to note, 4 DPS teams especially 4 DPS casters is very powerful on the burst, even I lose games to this makeup type sometimes as they can get lucky.

-You'll need to utilize some type of LoS yourself to try and mitigate the damage.
-Drop a set of 4 grounding totems, and then wait till the cooldown is up and try to make the fight happen during that time period so you can drop a fresh set once the first 4 are eaten up, creating a total of 8 groundings for you allows a lot of the intial burst potential to be completely negated
-Main targets are Shaman/Boomkin, once you drop either one put a ton of pressure on the Mage which will cause him to go into defensive mode. Making it so there is only 2 DPS on you.

Overall that's the basic method, if you run into a specific issue beyond that let me know and maybe I can help further

thanks for the reply. Yeah I think los is the key. Im open to try anything at this point. Do you think the fact that there in full s3 and im in S1 makes a big dif? My biggest prob against these type of teams is that I go oom way before they do. X( Maybe im expecting to much. Also all my healers are RL friends with crap gear. There pretty much tagging along for points. Does your healer make a big dif in your games? Sorry for rattling off all the questions. Just trying to own it up

Gear is definitely a part in it, but your healer really depends on skill level first and gear second. If your running oom though is it from healing yourself or are they healing through your damage?

This is how I've learned to deal with most 4x caster + healer set ups.

    General:

If possible, kill dps that can ressurect first. Kill the healer if you get the chance (Don't bother if he continously los, but keep an eye on him at all times) if he can ressurect. (So that's ele shamans first. :P) I sometimes go too defensive and they manage to res people, not good. But at the same time you shouldn't let yourself be flushed out if someone is trying to res either. Have your healer stop ressers if possible.

Nagrand Arena - Camp a pillar, have patience. Wait for any of the opposing team to 'expose' him/herself and go totally APENUTS on him, quickly to retreat behind your safe pillar once the kill is made. Timing is most important here. I use my 'move forward on all chars'-button for this not to rely on 'follow lag' to be able to get away from the pillar to dps any exposing member APEFAST!

Ruins of Lordearon - Stay in the opening of your door, when they come, go APENUTS on them'kill one or two, if you start to go down to fast, retreat for a short breather, it is likely they will follow while your healer can get off one or two extra heals before continueing to go ape nuts. It's hard to go against ressurecting in this map, however, if they do at the point you retreat, and some follow you, you will be in the position to kill a few that wont be able to get ressurected anymore.

Blade's Edge Arena - Stand on the grey area of the bridge. Never ever go down, if you're pressured too much, go onto the ramp of the bridge. But make sure you get up on the bridge as soon as possible. Try control that area as much as possible. Don't go to the center of the bridge, make sure they don't have a ramp to LoS on apart from having to bail the bridge. If you get them to jump off of the bridge, you win. Never advance on the bridge ever, in anyteam, anyhow.

I lost my s3 shaman healer this week tho (He got into a team that's going for glad title.), but I think i might have an S3 resto druid friend willing to help out.

mostly healing through my dmg and mana draining me. Im gonna go with a more patient approach. Stay around a pillar and only use shocks for killing blows. It seems like against caster teams im chasing them around and around just casting shocks trying to slow one down. Next time ill be waiting it out.
