Default Friend is coming back to wow, can't decide group makeup

My friend will play a mage. We'll be starting new characters.

He is skeptical of the whole "different classes" makeup, and probably just wants me to play 4 of the same class. Also, he does not want us to fight over gear. We have played wow together before and when we both rolled plate wearing classes...it did not go well lol. So since he is a mage, that pretty much singles out all cloth wearing classes I guess.

Any suggestions? Was leaning towards 4 shamans, but liked the idea of 4 druids, only thing is with 4 druids = no self rez or rezzing (unless you count the 30min cd rez).

This is purely for leveling purposes? What are your plans with the characters once they ding 70?

4x shamans is one of the most fun combo's in PvP at 70, no doubt about that. 4x druids offer a lot of diversity, whilest they might nog shine as much in pvp, they have the potential to shine in pve. 4x shaman and a mage could do heroics as well and such so, both could work in pve. Just that 4x druids would allow you to last much longer in fights, do to having a proper tank. Feral+2x boomkin+resto seems like a well fun combo with a mage as a 5th.

The druid can res but on a cd, however, if you have 4 druids, there shouldn't be much of a problem. And if its a wipe, can always just run back. I wouldn't take this factor too much into account with rolling a character set up.

4x paladins, mmh, I wouldn't do that personally. You've little to nothing to do in pvp as a box, and for pvp, you would only have one healer max, and then three melee, likely one prot and two retri. And 3 melee is just a lot of annoyences. It's more of a challenge as well, to do it, so it might work for you. But I wouldn't recommend it.

I play four shaman, I love them to death. My choice, what is yours?

On a more serious note I would suggest to you before you even consider an all melee group to determine if you are the kind of guy that can commit to making a melee team work. Once you get the hang of it it does work and it does work effectively, however it's not quite as easy as jumping right into a caster group, it will take some practice. Second you're going to have to face the fact that there are certain fights that are quite melee-unfriendly perhaps to the point were you may not be able to do them. I haven't encountered any such just yet but I can think of a few heroic fights that got me wondering wtf I'm going to do once I get there. On a side note though there are actually times that melee heavy teams will have the advantage over casters teams too

Went with 4 shamans. Since he was skeptical to begin with, I didn't want to do a team I hadn't done before. Otherwise I would have gone with 4 paladins.

He wound up rolling a Warrior. We are playing on Perenolde PVE server and holy crap those people have never seen multi boxers before.
