Thanks for the info. Looks like the rule of thumb is that you can always defer to the purchase of the previous seasons gear if the butt gets bit.
IMO, yes it is. If you look at it in the sense of time spent to cost to effort, it is a charity. Now keep in mind I'm not one of these multi-boxers boasting about 30-45 minute heroic badge runs and getting 20 a night, I'm still trying to get through regular runs. I have 200g invested in the creation of the team and spend 45 minutes a week to get the 10 matches in. That's it! After only 4 weeks I was able to purchase the Vengeful Gladiator's Waraxe on my hunters. That beats the hell out of running Shadow Labs trying to get the Sonic Spear to drop for all of them. So instead of investing more time (SL is way more than 45 min for me) running for a specific drop such as this that may or may not drop, I am guaranteed that I get the Ax afer 4 weeks spending a combined 3 hours. But honestly, if you're losing 90% of your 5v5 games the best you'll do is ~300 points per week. So, for example, the S3 helm costs 1875 points. It is going to take you, at minimum, 6 weeks to get. Is that welfare?
I remember running instance after instance after instance trying to get the dungeon set 3 pieces to round out sets on my other characters prior to being able to get comparable gear from factions just by hitting honored. Oh how times have changed in Azeroth... I mean, before I started multiboxing it was a real kick to get out of the regular instance run lfg grind and hit heroics. Most of these people then had experience in the instance by achieving revered for the key. Now every Tom, Dick, and Harry have keys at honored and think they can run them just because they have the key. Not enough gear and no experience, makes me shiver...
WOW, did I ever get sidetracked... But whew, that felt good to get off my chest lol
I guess it's an individual's perspective based on what value one places on time spent to cost to effort to be called a "charity".
