    Default This is kinda hard....

Brand new to multiboxing (dual boxing in this case). Been playing around with it for a few days. I started with a second account just so I could have my 70's run characters through instances. Then I figured why not try a team. I'm starting with dual monitors and just tabbing back and forth between screens. Controlling everything with an N52E (Nostromo). Also have a G15 to use, although not using it for anything right now (other than the fancy pretty lights)

My first team is only 9 right now, with a main as a Paladin and the 2nd a warlock. I haven't played either class before, so that is part of the problem. The macro's here have been a great help. With only 1 or 2 mobs, I can tear through them. More and I get into trouble. As soon as I get multiple MOBs on me, things fall apart quickly. It seems I spend all my time healing and dont have any time to do damage (other than the lock's imp). Is this a bad team combo? or as I'm assuming, I'm just pretty green and need to learn a lot.

I think keyclone might help. Any other advice for a complete newb?

Its actually very quick to alt tab with the nostromo, but I think you might be right. I'm assuming that with keyclone, I could set it so that for example, key 5 would cast a self healing macro on the paladin and at the same time cast a shadow bolt from the lock?

Right now, I attack with the pally, swap to the lock with a thumb button, press two keys, 1 to send the pet, and 2 to start a cast sequence with DOTs. If it gets bad, then I'm back to the pally healing, ignoring further damage with the lock. Sounds like Keyclone might be a good solution (or is it bad to have the healer as the main in this setup?)

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I can see how this is kind of addictive.

I did it that way a LOOOOONG time ago... get Keyclone, it'll make your life easier.

It's generally a good idea to have the melee as your main. If you don't have a melee class, then the healer.

    As mentioned above: GET KEYCLONE!!!!
And as for Macros, check out the
Macros and Addons Forums for helpful macros
Cuz you might run out of macro space fast, if you don't combine some spells... (you use /castsequence, however... good boy )

Trying to be fair there is more than one piece of software out there that you can use to pass keystrokes with that will allow you to multi-box, several of which I have heard good things about.

However the only software I've tried is Keyclone and will only be able to give my opinion on that program alone.

-"Noob friendly" - I'm not exactly the most sophisticated computer indiviual however I fel that Keyclone was not too terribly hard to set-up either. I had to read the tutorial a couple of times as well as some related threads to get it all set-up and running correctly but over all it was not a PITA by any means.
-A few extras - In addition to passing keystrokes to the other WoW clients it also has maximizer along with it which allows for resizing of the windows automatically each time you log in, features like round-robin for certain keystrokes for versatility, PiPs and BooBs which I actually don't use atm but that's just because I haven't really had the need to yet.
-Terrfic customer support. In case you're not aware the maker of Keyclone who goes by "Keyclone" is a frequent poster on these forums. He is very quick to help people out with software issues and is very open to ideas to make his product more multi-boxer friendly.

Again I can't give an opinion of the other software as I haven't used any of it, but the $40 I spent on my 2 copies of Keyclone was well worth it imo. MUCH better than when i use to alt-tab in between 2 wow clients prior to coming here

If (when) you do decide to use a software solution (keyclone), I would suggest making your Paladin the main. The way you describe above, your paladin is just doing white damage and losing a lot of DPS. If you would rather focus your attention on the lock, might I suggest running with a priest or druid. Both can support you with heals, but can also be easily macroed to add range DPS support.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I will definately look into getting Keyclone. Dual boxing is pretty fun and I can see how it could easily lead to 3,4, or even 5 boxing pretty quickly.

Keyclone is so worth what ever the cheap price is. You will get your money out of it the very 1st night and the support you get from it is awesome. And defently adding a few more toons to your party defently makes the enjoyment go up .
