please note... if you have an eSATA or SATA drive, i do not believe you would receive any benefit by having multiple directories on the same drive. and by having different files.. you actually lose the shared memory effect of any dlls
sym links may do some caching, which would help buffer the contents and increase performance... but if you are not using symlinks, try using a single directory and compare the results.
