Leveling setup question-

Hi,

I have recently decided to try out multiboxing after seeing Ellay's WTFBBQ video I saw on WCM. I want to start as soon as possible (once i have the money for a computer good enough to run all 5 accounts). I have been sifting through the forums for about a month now and been keeping my head down for the most part.

My question is this: I'm planning on leveling a team of 4 shamans to pvp with, and I already have 1 shaman at level 70. I was planning on bringing my lvl 70 sham along to help instance level the other 4, and to spec one of the low levels resto. Is this setup going to work, or will the experience be nerfed too much? I would also consider doing a 4 shaman 1 warrior setup (and not use the lvl 70). I would appreciate any feeback greatly.

Boosting your characters through instances with a lvl 70 char will possibly be the fastest way of leveling...
Though i cant really tell you how good a 70 shaman is in boosting. Its kinda lacks the Aoe part a mage or a prot paladin has, But if you spec it enchancement and take a couple mobs at a time ( instead of the entire instance ) i cant see why it wouldnt work

If you also consider using your multiboxing group for pve aswell, i would go for the 4 shaman + Tank setup. The experience you can get in the lower instances about how to control your characters will pay off when you ding 70 in both PvE and PvP.

If you have a 70 prot pally or 70 frost mage they are the optimal boosters. 70 fury warrior works decent as well. I've personally used all 3 of those but never tried a shaman. It could work but the only way to really tell is download an addon like titan panel or w/e that measures xp/hr rates and run DM or RFC with your shaman and see if you can boost out more xp/hr then regular questing would give you.

Sorry, I am not much of a boosting person. I wanted to experience it as it was going to happen later (when you are bigger the higher level char isn't clearing as much and you have to transition to a different playstyle). So I made a temp char to fill in until the group gets bigger to match my main (yeah, mine is only 40, so it is closer). You might just make a 5th shammy so you can see how things work instead of just getting run through places. You will probably learn tactics that will help out later.

I use a setup that lets all my chars tank/heal/melee/cast. I rely on sharing aggro and using generous use of totems. 1 is more elemental/resto. 2 are melee/resto. 2 are resto/barely elemental. I use 3 stoneclaws, stoneskin and strength, searing, 4 healing, 1 mana, 1 agility, 4 grounding. Then I lightning pull (usually 2 casts) and kill 1 mob, while other are busy with stoneclaws. It works pretty well. Even if the mobs get done with the stoneclaws, they don't focus on one guy and the healing totems almost make it so I don't have to heal. It seems work for me.

I would worry about playstyle more than levels. Levels you can get, if you stink at playing, levels probably won't save you. (I don't mean that in an insult way, just as to learn to control 5 chars takes practice.)

besides 5 shamsn, the 1pally/4shamans is also a popular option

roll a paladin on your lvl70 shaman account, and accompany with 4 new shamans
get to 70, and than you get to choose between 5 shamans for pvp, and pally/shaman for pve

I'm boosting four lowbies at the moment.

I quested them up to level 8 and then ran them through RFC to 10 and SFK to 20. At first, it was taking three runs to get two levels. Quest XP is on top of that if you can be bothered to go and pick them up.

About level 16, things were starting to slow down.

At level 20, I shifted to Scarlet Monastery. I'm currently farming Cathedral with them and at level 25, it's taking 3-4 clears per level.

My booster is a poorly equipped Rogue (quest rewards, vendor weapons and non-heroic blues) and Cathedral takes me 27 minutes to clear. If I had a decently geared Paladin or Mage, I'd be doing four-five Cathedrals per hour.

Maz at your lvl would library be better for you? The mobs would be closer to your lvl so you might get better xp. When i was power lvling my pally at 26 i took him to library and at 30 took him to cath. Library was about 3 clears per lvl.

I know what you mean about having melee for your power lvling. It takes forever. My rogue is like 90% S1 geared and takes about 20 mins to clear cath. That includes looting all the mobs and de the green/blues. If i didn't loot and just ran i think i could do it in 10 min or so, but i need the money.

I'm currently grinding for gear so the XP is a secondary concern. I did library until my mages all had Hypnotic Blade/Illusionary Rod/Mantle of Doan/Robe of Doan, then I did Armory until my Paladin had Herod's head, shoulder and legs, and now I'm doing Cathedral. I have all the drops for my Paladin and 2/3 of my mages have Triune Amulet and Whitemane's Chapeau. Ooh, I just realised I need a Triune Amulet for my paladin too.

Once I have the gear, I'll look again at XP.

If this is the first multiboxing team that you are leveling... I would suggest that you do not level boost them.

There is a lot of learning how to multibox that you are going to miss out on.

I don't know if this was for me or for orginal poster, but I am new to boxing. I know i should be questing and learning on how to box, but i am sort of on a time table. If the new expansion wasn't coming out next year i would do the questing, but it is and i can't really play to much so power leveling is the only way that i can get them there quick and gear so when the expansion comes out i can go right into the instances. I never really raided before until this year when i raid mag, gruuls and kara and i love it. My guild currently no longer does these because they are over geared for them and are now doing harder raids. I am under geared so i am not able to help them and can't get geared because they don't do the lower raids. I want to raid with my multi boxing team but in order to do that i need to be geared early and if i can get to 80 quick and geared i'll be able to raid the whole time.
