    Default [AoC] Screen res problem [and my AoC experiences]

    Howdy folks

    I am having a problem with AoC and the screen sizes for maximizer. Unlike wow it appears the minimum screen size I can have is 1024x768. Anyone have a work around for this yet. I would like to setup 2-3 clients running for the same box on the same monitor...

    thanks ya'll

    Anybody know where AoC stores screen res info? I can't find it.

    Well have 2 AoC accounts up and running currently, heres a list of the basic steps I took.

    1. copied aoc to another directory
    2. made a new shortcut to AgeOfConan.exe
    3. loaded up first client, set screen res to 1280x1024
    4. loaded up 2nd client, set screen res to 1024x768
    5. loaded keyclone and setup my window positions... unfortunately they overlap on my 22in widescreen.
    NOTE: I was going to run the 2nd client on another monitor, but have read in these forums that dualview chews up alot of
    graphics resources, and for this test I wanted it all to run on 1 pc.
    6. loaded up hotkeynet
    7. renamed the 2nd client window
    8. made a script
    9. played aoc

    Things I noticed
    - minimap and map doesnt respond on 2nd client (makes it hard to find the quest locations, or even where the hell you are)
    - keyclone doesnt broadcast to the 2nd client, hence the use of hotkeynet
    - follow works only if a group was formed in the same instance (once zoned you will need to reform, everytime)
    - you definately need your jump key mapped to both chars (lots of things to get stuck on ingame, jump over most things saves loosing your 2nd client)

    I'm sure theres more things I'll remember later and add.

    and finally heres a same of my hotkeynet script....

    blah blah, copy paste hotkey 9 and edit for all other keys
    then the last 3 hotkeys

    <hotkey 9>
    <sendpc local>
    <sendwin "Age of Conan"> ## First Client
    <key 9> ## initiates my combo
    <wait 800> ## then pauses
    <key 3> ## presses the first followup key
    <wait 300> ## smaller wait
    <key 3> ## and finishes of the combo
    <sendwin "AoC2"> ## Second client (renamed windows via hotkeynet)
    <key tab> ## Using tab to cycle targets, assist key sucks
    <key 1> ## Nuke spell
    <Restore> ## Sends the 2nd client window back to the backgroup (works mostly without any interupions)

    <hotkey 0>
    <sendpc local>
    <sendwin "Age of Conan">
    <key 0>
    <Sendwin "AoC2">
    <key 7> ## heal spell
    <text /follow> ## follow macro, only works if the 1st client is your active target
    <Restore>

    <hotkey space>
    <sendpc local>
    <sendwin "Age of Conan">
    <key space> ## Makes
    <Sendwin "AoC2"> ## both
    <key space> ## clients jump
    <Restore>

    It's fun to see a HotkeyNet script here for a change.

    5. loaded keyclone and setup my window positions... unfortunately they overlap on my 22in widescreen.
    You can shrink the windows so they don't overlap with HotkeyNet's SetWinSize command. AoC will partly adjust its resolution to match (its 3D graphics will change but interface doodads will not). For best results make AoC's starting resolution as small as possible first. You can also use HotkeyNet's RemoveWinFrame command to remove the window frame and caption like Maximizer does. However AoC doesn't adjust the position of interface objects correctly when the caption is gone.

    I notice you put some wait commands in your hotkey definition to pause between actions. My understanding is that this would be against the rules in WoW. I don't know if AoC has the same rule but if it does, then your sample hotkey could get you in trouble. If you're concerned about this, you can rewrite the hotkey as three separate hotkeys without wait commands.

    Wait commands are often used in a different way to slow HKN down so the game has time to see HKN's keystrokes. I don't think this second use is against any rules.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH! This is what I wanted to hear about. I heard follow was spotty. This lets me see where the problem is, and I think I can live with it.

    I dont do scripts or coding or anything. Four comps, four keyboards. I normally run nukers or pet classes. /follow and /assist are my only necessary macros in most games.

    @darkives

    I have a few questions for you if you don't mind I'm interested in boxing AoC but I don't want to invest in 4-5 low end computers and get a keyboard broadcaster.

    What do the specs on your comp look like and what is your frame-rate like running two instances?

    Can you give a small explanation of exactly what you're doing with AHK in order to box?

    Are you running keyclone for the maximizer?

    - Main PC : E2160, 4g ram, 8800gts (320meg) However I have upgraded to an E8500 now to try 3 accounts on the one pc

    - not using ahk

    - stopped using keyclone now, hotkeynet has similar effects as maximizer, you can resize the windows how you want them, bring different clients to the main view etc.

    sorry for the slow reply, you have probably read my other posts already and had this answer by now.

    My first night running 3 accounts on one pc with hotkeynet.

    First problems.
    1. I am using hotkeynet, however when using the setwinsize & setwinpos (similiar as maximizer in keyclone) more than once on any of the clients, that client crashes.
    2. the ui doesnt scale, so thats why I am having to swap cliants to the main window, I'd be happy if the ui scaled and I didnt have to change the active client to the large view.
    3. clicking the smaller client windows only spins the characters in a circle, as if turning constantly, no idea why
    4. without the ui rescaling, I am unable to grab quests, accept invites, trade, view inventory, roll on items in the small client windows, refer problem 3
    5. there is no assist command, only the F key that assists that clients target, which afterwards i have to target the main assist again, everytime

    Conclusions
    1. Near impossible to run on one pc yet
    2. the framerate was awsome however (i took the screenie while running, as everyone knows standing still doing nothing isnt a real example)
    3. running 2
    4. clients on 2 separate pcs is piece of cake

    hopefully more updates soon....
