Well, my suggestion is to first decide how much you want to spend on things. The 8800GT models are about $160-210US versus about $220-270US. Once you figure that out, look at the specs for each of the ones in your price range and compare the following things:

    Core clock 600MHz
    Stream Processors 112
    Memory Clock 1800MHz
    Memory Size 512MB
    Memory Interface 256-bit
    Memory Type GDDR3

Any card that is lower than those is a cheap knock-off or mislabeled or underclocked version (usually due to them using cheaper capacitors/voltage regulators/etc.) and should be avoided. The rest all comes down to price and the amount of RAM (which, considering today's game offerings, isn't that big of a deal once you hit 512MB).

[edit] Doh! My apologies. That's the 8800GT model specs. Those still apply, but for the 8800GTS, here's what I'd use as a baseline:

    GPU GeForce 8800GTS (G92)
    Core clock 650MHz
    Stream Processors 128
    Memory Clock 1940MHz
    Memory Size 512MB
    Memory Interface 256-bit
    Memory Type GDDR3

Cheers for that (bow). I'll be looking around. If and when I find something I'll let you know.
Actually I still can't set my heart on buying a video card for so much of the money it asks for. ;(
Probably an overkill with the 8800 GTS. Really I just want a video card, that can handled maybe 2 or 3 wows, Do you recommend any others? .

 At the moment I've just got one wow, I'm scarficing my game time to show the wife how to play World of Warcraft and thats a total different mission all together (alot, alot and alot more patience is needed  ). If I can get her into the game, then I'm sure I'll be able to get a new computer.

A 7800GT will handle 3-4 WoWs just fine. No need to get the 8800 for that. I would consider longevity, though. Do you want to be able to use the card for a couple of years more with newer games? If so, I'd go with the 8800GT considering your desire to pay less for it.

I got the 8800GTS for five-boxing. The 8800GT would have been fine but the GTS is a double width card with a much more substantial cooling system on it. It (allegedly) runs quieter and that was important to me.

I just bought the cheapest one. As I'd already over-specced the card, there was no need to get one that was overclocked. Besides, the overclocked ones would probably have been louder which would have defeated the object of going to the GTS in the first place.

BTW, I'm very pleased with it

Well, I only play WOW, I dont really go for other games, so the 7800GT might be a good investment. Ooo the 8800GT might be ok, just depends on the price difference

    Thanks for the advice

p.s The 8800GT really that loud?

No idea. But if I'm offered spam or ham then I'll choose whichever is (supposed to be) quieter.

Nope, it's a fairly quiet card as long as it's firmly secured in a decent case to reduce vibration and provide at least a little sound dampening. It's certainly a lot quieter than the 8800GTX I have in another PC, that thing sounds like a jet engine at times.

You should hear my old 2900 XT lool *shivers*

    To the OP:
If you only play WoW and only 3 box the 8800GT should handle that just fine. Even my 2900 XT does that.
