Default Setup -> 4 locks and a priest -> Durable in lvl 70?

    Hello there,

I just had a little talk with Wilbur at irc tonight and he really convinced me that my voidwalker tanks wouldn't last anything in lvl 70.

It would kinda be sad if i wen't 70 and couldn't be able to do anything.

I got a team right now which consists of 4 warlocks and 1 holy priest - the locks which is on trial accounts, who just ran out.

So right now i am preparing for going for it - for real...

    My current setup
The trivial - Warlock, Warlock, Warlock, Warlock, Holy priest.

But i thought about it know, and decided i maybe should replace one of the warlocks with a tank, which could run as the "main", a prot warr or feral druid.

    Setup 1
Warlock, Warlock, Warlock, Holy priest, Prot warrior or feral druid.

I talked with him about maybe replacing one of the locks with a mage to, for molyporph etc. although it would be harder to micro manage.

    Setup 2
Warlock, Warlock, Mage, Holy priest, Prot warrior or feral druid.

What are your opinions about that? Anyone got some experience with it? Would it be hard to micro manage so many different classes?

    Kind regards
    Mini

And he's right. Your VRs won't last on trash (true enough). However, if you're good with your succubus, you can have one of your locks to tank (or any of them actually) as you pick the trash one by one.

Killing a boss at lvl 70 is another story. You nor your VRs wont last.

That's why I roll with 1 Prot / Ret pally, 1 Holy Priest, 3 locks. Some people in these forums role similar too. In the end, a real tank is a real must in consistent clearings of lvl 70 instances.

On the other hand, the 5 shaman videos have proved "some" things are possible without a tank (xbox). Nevertheless, he bets on his Earth guardians to live and have enough DPS to down the boss while they're still alive

If your going to PVP more, you can roll with ur 4 locks/1priest. But if youre going to PVE more, might want to consider getting a tank.

Honestly I think rather than soloing heroics, you might want to consider just providing the healing\damage and letting a 5th person tank and benching one guy.

    It's much more fun.

i was thinking for when i 3 box of going mage, holy priest, and prot pally (for multi mob tanking). i dont know if its going to work but in my mind i dont see it not working. the only thing would be running out of mana and thats why i went with a mage over a lock (int buff and free water), also sheeping.
so if u add 2 more of any range class it would make every fight faster.

Again im new at it, and i still haven't been able to test any of this because my new computer is having problems so i only have one older computer that cant do 3 WoWs at one time.

For heroics - all cloth might be an issue.

I can't speak from experience there.

However - for regular dungeons - 4 locks 1 priest should be more than able to stay alive long enough to kill any non heroic bosses - I did it with only cloth mages, no tanks.

The VWs, while somewhat weak, can be chain healed. Chain heal + dots + DDs = win on most non heroic fights - certainly all 1-60 and most likely 61-70.

Heroics may depend on a different setup. Something more like Xboxes run and gun strategy.... nuke 1 down then run and drop a totem and then nuke and kite. Certainly workable - bosses though require more of a "kill using earth elementals" on a 20 minute timer. Workable - but his videos showed that it was far from elegant.
