Personally I think Home Premium has about everything you would need. I don't actively recall the differences, but I remember researching it when I purchased it and didn't feel the need to go beyond Home Premium.
There's a handy comparison chart on the MS website:

Home Premium is probably fine for most people. I'd miss remote desktop.

I have been doing some research on which OS to pick and it looks like Home Premium is the way to go for me. Should I get the full version, or the upgrade? I don't foresee losing the XP disc without losing the Vista disc. Any reason to NOT save myself $100?

My girlfriend would rather see it used for a nice dinner or something.

If it were me I would definitely go with the full version. It's worth the extra $100.

A fresh install is always better than an upgrade install. In my opinion anyway.

Okay, so it looks like I am going with Vista Home Premium. I still have some questions though.

Should I go with 32 or 64 bit? I have 4gb of ram and plan on adding more later. Is it true that Vista 32 can't see more than 3.x GB of ram?

If I go Vista 64, will my G15 work?

Thats all I can think of for now, thanks for reading.

    It is true.

If you've got 4gigs I suggest Vista 64 over Vista 32 any day. Especially if you're adding more in later to (I run 8 gigs in my one).

A good link if you feel like really delving into the 4g barrier in 32-bit OS' http://www.dansdata.com/askdan00015.htm

For those of us old enough to remember mucking around with HMA in DOS, it's a little nostalgia trip as well.
