Default Wouldn't it be great if ......

wow allowed you to create multiple profiles for a character.

For example I respec my lock alot and based on that I have different macro setups gain some abilities/lose others, so I then have to reconfigure. Same on my hunter.

Now I'm thinking of changing my 70 lock and 70 hunter to be slaves of my 67 shaman and this would require reconfiguring, but I'm going to do a very limited reconfigure as I will still want to use these characters in their own right.

Is there a way round this?.

Perhaps I could copy the character configuration and then copy it back.

e.g have one for affliction, one for demonology and one for multiboxing. and just rename the folders as and when.

Perhaps, create different binding for your interface and save a copy of the files in WTF so you can swap them around and try the "Talented" addon. You can create templates for each spec you want with the addon, then apply them after unlearning your talents and it will choose all your talents automatically.

I'm currently looking into creating a macro preprocessor that should make switching setups with multiple characters a lot easier. The current scripts and add-ons that sync macro's, etc only work with symmetric setups, because they copy the macro's from one client to another. Creating different macro source files for each client and copying them to the each client installation is an alternative that will allow for asymmetric macro setups, but this method requires a lot of work to keep the macro source files in sync (especially if you want to tweak the settings a lot). This is why I'm looking into building a system that can use one source file to generate the macro's for multiple clients.

To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, if you want to have different round robbins on each client you'd normally have to write a round robbin per client, which looks like this:

    client 1: /castsequence spell1, spell2, spell3
    client 2: /castsequence spell2, spell3, spell1
    client 3: /castsequence spell3, spell1, spell2

With the preprocessor that I'm talking about, you wouldd just write something like this:

    RoundRobbin(spell1, spell2, spell3)

and the client specific macro's will be generated for you. Making macro maintenance a lot easier.

Trinity bars lets you save and load templates that include bar positioning, keybindings, and macros. I really like it for this purpose -- I just load up the "SoloEleShammy" profile when I want to play one of my ele shammies by itself, or load "RaidRestoShammy" when I'm using my resto shammy in BT/Hyjal, and even a "RestoPvPShammy" profile and "RestoArenaShammy" one too.

    Really great stuff.
