Default New to multiboxing, how are they doing this?

I've tried a bit of dual boxing before and i'm now returning with tri boxing 3 elemental shammies. However, i see a lot of videos like this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz3HaGzIg34

As you can see, at 1:28 they use some sort of command to make each of the shammies split up into a line.

    A) Is there any reason for doing this?
    B) How are they doing this?

    Thanks,
    Xelem

The answer to your query is found on this sites wiki and countless threads.
The keyword you want to search for is 'formations'.

Sorry, had a quick browse before i posted thread and couldn't find anything. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

However, the wiki doesn't explain why people use the formations. Any reasons?

sometimes you'd like to use a formation to help orient your toons facing direction.

    ie:
roll in... all in a stack behind... hit your formation... they spread into a diamond
you hit the target... target rolls into the middle of the formation.. behind some toons and screwing up your casting

one tap on your /follow button and all your clones will turn to face the leader... who is in the center.

    facing problem solved.

other then that, it can be useful to maneuver or stay spread out a bit to avoid some aoe.

of course, it also looks cool

a "Spread out" key is usually used to:
    • stop your toons from following your main if you need to start a cast etc.
    • get out of AoE range of each other (read: seed of corruption) or other AoE that you need to avoid.

To look cool. Everything and I mean everything a multiboxer does is to look cool They may say they do it for some reason or other but the coolness factor is just way up there

I'd never do that! Well, ok, so I regularly test out my formation macros outside the bank in Orgrimmar, but that's pure macro-research I tells ya! 8)

just search for formations, i set up the + one last nigt and i love it.... i spent time in ogg doing it and tossing 10 totems around people were freaking.... to be honest with you, its starting to get annoying to explain every 20 mins that im multiboxing.. giving this url and telling them its legal... but i love it... i wish i could do the straight line formation i don't see how it works though... if you set 2 to strafe left 2 to the right and the main step back... the left and rights will strafe the same distance? or you do it with 2 keys for each side... which would suck to me...
Vantek, Vantol, Vantal, Vantol, Vantel.. yeah.. no Vantil.... bite me, im a moron...

i hit [home] 2 chars move left 2 chars move right, hit [end] 1 char moves left one moves right and 2 move backwards, ends up like this

    ...X
    .X..X
    X....X

    you get the picture.
