Default No longer works for no apparent reason.

    Good day Rob,

So I was having problems that have already been listed in the forums, and 1.8i seems to have taken care of the major one (random lockups). So Yesterday I went through and figured out how to get my mouse buttons to be sent over to the slave machine. All I had to do was download the software/drivers instead of using the default MS Vista ones, and then set them to some key combo. So all was well when I logged off, mouse buttons where getting sent through keyclone, no random lockups. All I had left to do was update my add ons because I was getting some funky add-on errors after yesterdays patch.

Now today comes, I installed Ace Updater and let them update my add-ons so that I would no longer have to manually download and then install them on two machines. After that was done I started up keyclone, made sure the IP for connecting was valid, it was, and then launched WoW. For some strange reason, Keyclone does not seem to be sending or receiving my keystrokes. The little "..O...." thing moves on my main when I press a key, but not on my slave. Slaves keyclone connects to the mains, Main shows only 1 window in its main viewer, slave shows the ip connection (highlighted blue), and one window.

I went through all my settings for keyclone and don't see a problem. I also reset the networks routers to make sure that was not the issue. I am sure it is something stupid that I overlooked, but still can't figure it out. I do not have any software or hardware firewalls that would be blocking the packets. The only things that has changed was the install of Ace Updater, and a windows update. I have not uninstalled Aceupdater yet to see if that is truely the culprit. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on what the problem could be.

    Thanks in advance
    Chocki

    -Edit
Was originally titled No longer works after aceupdate install. Changed name to preserve accuracy as Aceupdate was not the culprit of the problem.

No problem. Not a super rush, as I got other things that limit my play time at the moment.

Here is the url of ace updater
    http://www.wowace.com/wiki/WinAceUpdater

I also un-installed Ace updater., and still have the same problem.

I downloaded and installed the Logitech Drivers (Setpoint is the name of the software) for my MX1000 Mouse yesterday, but that is what got my mouse buttons working. I am slowly going backwards through the things I did yesterday to see if I can find the problem. I will post an update if I find anything.

I un-installed AceUpdater, problem still existed.

So I started going over all the settings again with a clearer head, nothing is different except I noticed the port number was set to 1321 on both machines. Now, this should not matter, as long as they are the same from my understanding of networks and your program. I also never really paid any attention to the number before now, never changed it from the initial install. But, seeing that 1320 was the default, might as well give it a try. So after changing both machines to port 1320, everything is working again.

I don't know if the router I have is defaulting to not allowing that port, or a different device is using that port, or something of that nature. But, my problem is fixed, it was something stupid that I over looked the first time, even though I don't think the number should matter.. I'm not going to complain as it is working.

If you need more information to try to track down some bug in KC that is having issues with non-default port numbers just drop me a pm.

Thanks again for the great software and support.

yea.. the port number does not matter... it can be anything you wish. of course, your software firewall must allow it as well.

also, the port number will only change if you start keyclone and it cannot get the port its expecting.. at which point, instead of stopping everything, i increment the port until i find an open one. this was added in .. september?.. and allows for multiple keyclones on one machine.. which some people are doing.

look at your firewall settings. see if the exception for keyclone has a specific port specified. odds are, that is what is blocking the traffic
