Thread: New boxer.

    Default New boxer.

    Hello.

Ever since i saw Xzins video a few months back i am so interested in dual boxing.

Ive had 2 accounts for a long time. Always running them at the same time on 1 computer, but i never really played both at the same time. I would just play 1 char and i would camp the AH with the other account.

So now i found this website and i would love to try to dual box.

Now ive found the program that i need for dual boxing on a single computer so i will try it out.

But im wondering what would be a nice 2man combo?
I already have a lvl 70 Warlock on 1 account and a level 70 Warrior on the other. But i dont think those would be any good together.
And i dont feel like lvling a single char all over again so i decided to make 2 new ones.

But i cant decide on wich ones.

The most obvious choice would be Warrior+Priest or a Warlock+Priest.

But seeing as i already have a warrior and warlock i think i want to try something else.

Would a Mage+Priest be any good? Or what other class could work well with a Mage. Perhaps 2 mages?

Or are there any other combos you guys could suggest.

    Hi

I just started duel boxing too

im using a mage and priest

    it works great so far

most people avoid melee classes so i probably wouldn't use the warrior unless it was your main

2 mages would work great for AoE grinding i would think
    not sure though

Just started 2 Blood elf mages for some practice, since its a bit easier to do with 2 the same classes because they have the same skills.

And its working great so far and im having a blast. Cant imagine how much fun it must be at level 70 or with 5 chars.

Mages seem like they'd be easiest since there is no range restriction and they kill fast. The range restriction is tough to deal with. All melee and hunters will have issues with range. Warlocks and Shadow priests don't, but they kill differently (and not as fast) AND rely on fears. I would think they'd be more challenging.

So I think mages would be the way to go, but IMO with only 2 mages you may run into a barrier at higher levels. I'm wondering if protection paladin/lock or mage would be a good combo.

hunters would be a bit hard i think because of deadzone. Altough 2 bm pets rock.

But 2 mages might work aswell, but perhaps not very efficient as a dps+healer.

So after i see all these videos about 5 shammys. I was wondering if dual boxing shammys would work?

Two DPS classes is damn nice for lots of stuff, especially mages that can AoE farm and sheep, etc. Fun stuff.

Just be prepared to not be able to do much in the way of elites with the two-squishies-and-no-healing duo, such as some of the better quest lines in outlands. On the other hand, you can probably offer DPS assist to other folks doing those and get them to help you with yours in a pinch.

I started a triple-team Draenei Shaman group. I have mostly wHorde toons, and i wanted to try something new on a PvE server, so i made three blue guys.

I have a lvl 65 Shaman that was my main before TBC, so i had a handle on what it was going to be like to play "a shaman" but playing three is a lot better. As stated before on the forums, when you play them, don't think of three different toons, think of one powerful toon that can multi-task really well. Especially if you are doing seperate classes.

I had a Warrior/Druid team, but wanted to change to get away from friends and guildies for a little while. The Warruid combo was pretty kewl. Charge in, Heroic Strike, Wrath, Strike Strike, heal. It took me a while to think of the team as one to get a better handle on how to play. i've been playing with the idea of three Undead Locks, because DoTs can be cast in any direction, Soul Stone, Drain Life and three Feln00bs looks pretty funny.

I dual box with a hunter and I can assure you that it is harder than with a mage (which I also dual box with). You can setup hunter keybinds to swap automatically when something gets to melee range, and the deadzone isn't a problem because very few mobs will sit there. The problem is that IF something gets to melee range, then your damage is almost negligible. The amount of damage from a ranged weapon vs. melee is enormous.

Yes, hunters have many ways to avoid this, but he is not my main, so everything needs to be fairly scripted. Running around and laying a bunch of traps or hitting concussive shot when I pull aggro is not an option for a background window.

Freezing traps are also not an option because then you have to be sure that they don't have a dot tick on then which is then pretty restrictive plus the fact that if the hunter is attacking it then it is the current kill target.

In a way hunters can be really nice as an alternate window due to auto-shot and the pet, but also very difficult as it is hard to keep the pet from dying. Auto-shot damage is also pretty low for a BM build, which is the current best PVE build. Feel free to look at my hunter's spec if you like: Smokay on Bloodscalp.

Its pretty easy with a little practice. All you have to do is work on character positioning. (have character #1 run just slightly past the mob to be attacked and spin 180 degrees, character #2 on follow should now be in melee range).
Doing same though I have a simpler (possibly) solution for this. Instead of doing 180 after running through, some mobs will also run backward, have your 2nd accounts forward button the same as the primary accounts back button. Enter melee quickly tap the key (in my case S) and voila both characters are in same spot.
