Default Importance of monitor refresh rate on drones?

    Hi,

    My question to you all:

Do you feel a super slow refresh rate on the **drone** boxes is a disadvantage? (i.e., really distracting ghosting or something).

    Why?

Slowly getting all my pieces together for my boxing army - going the hardware route mostly (6 boxing EQ2 - vetra, km, etc.).

Been looking at lots of monitors down at the local computer shops and there seems to be trend in that all the cheapest 'new' monitors cost just over $200AUD (about 2ms - 5ms refresh). Therefore, if I wish to build my army I'd be down $1000AUD on monitors just for the drones.

Recently just noticed an online PC auction where they are selling off Dell monitors for about $49AUD (last bid - still have a bit to go though). They are all ex-lease and are scratched / worn but working. Great price...but...these montiors have a humungous refresh rate of between 16ms-25ms.

    The monitors are:

5 x DELL, E173FPB 17`` TFT - FLATPANEL (16ms - found a few problems with this model when googling it - something about blinking)

    5 x DELL, 1503FP 15`` TFT - FLATPANEL (???ms - I assume it is similar to the 1504FP)

    5 x DELL, 1504FP 15`` TFT - FLATPANEL (25ms!)

..and yep, I know, I gets what I pays for...and there always is ebay...but sheesh, $250AUD vs $1000AUD is a big saving plus all 5 monitors will be the same make/model...

    Looking forward to your thoughts,

I would guess the only reason this might be an issue is if you go the hard-core route and setup a multibox system that includes moving primary controls to a secondary character when your main dies. (and I mean FULL control. Anyone can still pass targets and keep DPSing when their main dies)

Otherwise, the only use I have for my secondary monitors is for mousing over to do NPC talks, inventory management, trades, etc. None of which require a low ms rating.

I'd go for the cheapies. (that's a word right?)

Ah true...that could be an issue if the MT does die - plus the fact the screens are pretty small so I'd be squinting pretty hard to avoid a wipe - be a bad time to have low refresh monitors...

Dont be fooled by the 2ms refresh rate.. Those are specs on a POS TN LCD panel. Unless you want to save money and buy cheapo LCD's stay away from TN's. They are now selling TN panels in 24inch which is the manufactures way of making more profit. Many of them are charging nearly the same price as they did for good panels. So they are selling people a shit sandwich and people are eager to eat it up.

Read this link and you will learn alittle about LCD panels. I had the pleasure of learning about this when I purchased two shit TN panels and set them next to my good S-IPS panel. It was like setting a dodge neon next to a dodge viper and thinking they were equal. The TN panels were total shit. I sent them back and got S-IPS panels. Now all my LCD's look amazing.
