it's not really a bug... but a function of how the DNP works. the solution would be to UNCHECK strict. this does limit the number of keys you have, by stopping all modified keys specified in the DNP... but you won't get run-aways
Then the bug is in how DNP works.

Besides, I was getting run aways well before the strict option even existed so I've been running with it "unchecked" or disabled for months and I still get run aways.

I don't really see how losing core functionality like being able to pass SHIFT+<key> (which has worked fine up until this release) is a valid trade off to not getting run aways.

I test software for a living ... and the run-aways issue is a bug, whether it's a defect in the code or a defect in the design, it's still a bug.

ok.. then i'll walk you through it... in test-plan fashion
(it's been posted numerous times.. but i guess search has never worked on the forums...)

    put on your DNP: W
then press keys in this fashion:

    shift down
    W down
    shift up
    W up

what do you think will be sent to the other wows?

    shift down
W down ... since this is not W, but shift+W, it will pass
    shift up

that's it. why? because the W is on the DNP therefore W up will not be passed

why do you get run-aways? due to blizzards movement model. down means go.. up means stop. no up... no stop.

btw.. 'strict' is not new. that is what i call the 'old' way of doing the dnp.
unchecking it will avoid runaways for those unaware of the dynamics. do i like it? no.. but then again, i don't get run-aways

*sigh* ... it's becoming clear to me that this is not something you're interested in further feedback on so I'll just be a good customer and shut up.

Thanks for making Keyclone, it's the best $20 I've spent in a long time.

I've had a lot of lock-ups (seemly random - all the sudden it doesn't broadcast to the other computer) in Vista 64bit with the new version. I've rebooted etc... I have to end the keyclone.exe in task manager. I went back to the old version and everything works fine again.

on the contrary.. if you have a solution, and not 'it should just do what i want', then please.. spell it out.

and stop with the passive aggressive bs

How about not sending incomplete modified key sequences to clones when it's pretty obvious the user intended for the sequence to be complete? As a user, if I press SHIFT+W then release SHIFT+W (4 key events) but the W release is .1 second later than the SHIFT release, I expect it to be obvious that I'm releasing the SHIFT+W key combo, not trying to release them one at a time for some specific effect. All 4 key events should be sent to the clones unless it's obvious they were meant to be separate.

And I'll stop with the passive aggressive bs if you do. If you want people to just search for stuff so you only ever have to write something once, just say that rather than crap like "but i guess search has never worked on the forums". Maybe put it in your sig, something like "Keyclone questions only answered after a full search is completed by you first." Deal?

(See, if you take out the passive part ... we're left with just "aggressive". )

Which is exactly why I said I'd just shut up about it originally. You don't want feedback from me so I'll stop giving it, easy enough.
