Default Setting up your multi-class group

So I've started to diversify my group make-up, now that I've gotten comfortable with the 5x Shaman concept. I was wondering for those folks who use a Pally to tank, how do you generally setup your macro/interface given that the Pally class has so many necessary hotkeys/macros of its own to worry about?

I think the two basic approaches are to:
    • Maintain seperate keybinds, or
    • Design complementary keybinds.

With seperate keybinds, you'd set up you shammies on 1234567890-= and you paladin on F1-12 and once you ran out, you'd use modifiers to create more. This way, you're playing two classes at once.

With complementary keybinds, you look for parallel abilities and put spell interupts on one button, heals on another, hoTs on a third, buffs on a fourth... For abilities where there's no obvious parallel, you'd use a seperate button. This way, you're playing two classes as if they were one.

I guess in the second example you could treat the mage as a shaman from a DPS perspective and just put Firebolt on your LB button for simplicity's sake.

I generally have my Pally set up on a "clicker" method, with things like taunt and shield toss (names escape me at the moment) just set up so I have to click them. Outside of that, I have "2" set up as my button mash. On my pally, I currently have it set up as a "/castsequence Holy Shield, Consecrate", although the cooldowns are a bit off with that, so I need to set it up as "/castrandom Holy Shield, Consecrate", when I get around to it. All the casters are set up to /assist the tank and spam their basic spell, with things like elemental mastery and trinkets set up so that they are used when they are up.

Similarly, I have my "2" set up as my mash button as well. Ironically, I left it completely blank for the Pally. It's still early on, so I may put in Holy Shield or some other castsequence in there at some point.

This is what I plan to do, have most of the main's abilities set up for mouse clicking, and leave the keybinds for the rest of the group.

It's what I do now, as I powerlevel the group (70 enhance shaman PLing a paladin, mage, warlock, priest). I actually have most of the shaman's buttons unbound. I run him almost entirely by clicking abilities, then use the number and function keys to use the group's abilities. I like the idea of keeping those separate, that way I don't risk using an ability I don't want to use if I suddenly have to react to a changing situation.

I use my dx1 for my tank/heal binds (and a big "DPS" button) and an n52 for specific dps spells.

Paladin tanks aren't really that complicated imo. I've got one to 68 atm and all I really need are Avenger's Shield, Holy Shield, Consecrate, Seal/Judge and Taunt (in combat) Course, I have all of those bound to my 9-button mouse >.> <.< lol

You dont' even have to seal/judge. :P Its purely optional in non-heroics.

I have a warrior that I used to tank with, Paladin tanking is like Shaman Raid Healing.

I'm planning to have a cast-sequence to go with my nuking classes button. This will include seals/judgements, Holy Shield (when I'm high enough) and Consecration. It will also include a few empty , , so that it ties in with the dps rotation, I just don't know how many yet.

My dps already have a nuke button that is seperate from my healers button, so they'll probably get one seperate from the tanking button (so they can nuke and my tank can do other things). I'm planning to have HoJ, BoP and RD on one button with modifiers/mouseclicks with nothing on my alts for that button.
