Thread: R.I.P. Versi

    Default R.I.P. Versi

I was smacked with the ban-hammer tonight. I figured it would happen, as I've read about accounts having to be resolved.

So...I have a quandry...and I should have done this from the beginning. But I was in such a hurry to get started.

I had my main account. With my raiding priest and the warlock I've been playing from day 1. My account. I'll get that back, no doubt. Although it is in my ex husband's name and I may have to contact him. <cringe>

Second and third accounts...ones bought...registered in my name and my fiance's. I'll get them back. No big deal.

The third and fourth accounts. They were old friends'. "Meh, not going to play anymore...you can have it." Those were the ones I was worried about boxing with. For obvious reasons.

So...not being able to get Versiv and Versiz back...looks like I'll camp the Versi girls. Hey...you break the rules, I guess.

Went to the store...bought two more to replace the lost ones...waiting for responses from Bliz on the other three, now.

    So....I start a-new.

Might go with those candy names I had thought about...

My work is a game, a very serious game. --M.C. Escher

Sadly, this one will most likely be lost as well. If it's in his name, and you were using it then that's still going to be account sharing. Depending on how things are with him, he may let it be used again once he gets all the forms to blizz but I'd still suggest you don't use it again as it will just be a cause for getting banned again if it's not in your name.

Best bet is to just get one more new boxed set and, depending on the level and class of the two accounts that you will 99% get back or willingness of guildies to help, boost them up to match the levels of your chars. That way you at least only have to level 3 rather than 5

Also, just like to say it's nice to see someone accept their punishment properly even if it sucks to have happened.

Sorry to hear you got accounts actioned against. But of the accounts you listed, you are likely to only get the one account you own back -- that is, the account that is registered in your name. The 4 accounts in your ex-husband's, fiance, and 2 friends names are not yours. Blizzard *will* unban the other accounts - but only if the person who's account the name is in follows the necessary unban steps. And if they are unbanned and you continue to play them, then Blizzard will most likely hand out a permanent ban for all 5 accounts.

I'm sorry and I don't mean to be harsh, hopefully this doesn't cost you your mains but since that account is not in your name then you are going to need some luck to get it back. If you do get it back then do NOT multibox with it, I really recommend not playing it at all since it's against the ToS to share accounts no matter if you multibox or not.

Your only safe option for multiboxing is to buy 2 more accounts so that you have 5 in your own name.

    Bummer!

My advice is to dump any account that's questionable and replace them. Hopefully you'll have at least one toon on the accounts you have left that's a viable booster.

Take the opportunity to start a new team... and a blog... and post loads of instance vids and...

Sorry to hear about it. Stabface is right, by the way-- Blizzard will only recognize those accounts that are in your name, so out of the five that you were using, you will likely only get back one. Your ex-husband and fiancee might help you get the other accounts back, but you will risk another account action if you use them. Blizzard is pretty strict about the rules regarding account ownership, because it protects them from problems that may arise when there is a dispute over an account.

Painful as it is, you might be better off purchasing four accounts and putting them in your name, and that way you will have five accounts that won't be subject to action for account sharing. Best of luck!

I had this happen to me too unfortunately -- fortunately(mmm sounds weird!) my guys were only lvl 30 then!

I believe the moment you get reported (as a farmer or anything like that), they check your accounts information and if they dont meet their standards( same name, same billing etc) they will put the warning hammer(or ban hammer if youve done naughty things before!) on them.

So I can only wish you some fun times leveling some new toons again thats the risk you take when you multibox with friends account

Yea I'm bascially going thru the same thing atm. When I orginally bought the game back in sept. 2005 I bought a copy of wow right before I had to go to work not thinking that it was going to take hours to install. So I let my roommate at the time go ahead and finish installing it. I came to find out like a month later that he without thinking about it put his own name into the account creation. We then bought another account which LOL accidently got put into my name, then we found out that you couldn't switch toons between accounts. He eventually stopped playing so I started using the 2nd account to use my paladin to carebear dual-box (this is long before becoming a 5boxer).

Then once transfers became available he wanted his paladin off the 2nd account. Well I bought a copy since I took the 2nd account and the doofus put it in his name :P So he had to buy another account, put it in my name and transfer his paladin off :P Since then when I did become a 5 boxer I bought a few more accounts and put 1 in my name and 2 in his so I could spread out my existing toons over 5 accounts. THEN, I finally for the first time came here seeking a program a boxer on Cairne server recommended called Keyclone, and while trying to figure out how to get everything to work found out what exactly account sharing meant and that I was in violation of it Well seeing as how I had a grand majority of my 70's on the very first account we had bought which was in my now ex-roommate's name I was like F that. I got like 300 days played on all those characters combined not to mention I DID infact pay for all the accounts I was playing on.

Well I figured I'd just stay in instances and such and try to stay unnoticed so I wouldn't get any little morons thinking I'm botting report me then the GM's be like "well he isn't botting but he is account sharing." So finally in the end I never did get caught account sharing but I did finally think about it and I figured, you know what I know how to level extremely fast by this point in time. Multi-boxing is what really interests me and I want to have a couple of 5 team's, I'm most likely going to eventaully get caught and lose 3 of those accounts which knowing my luck will be after I've already spent 100's of badges on gear and who knows how many hours. So I finally just thought to myself, 'You know what, I'm going to eventually get caught with all the attention that Multi-boxing brings and lose those accounts anyways. The toons on those (accounts with my roommate's name) don't have any kind of major gear on them, and if I'm going to lose more than half my multiboxing team I might as well just restart now.'

So basically last week I called up my ex-roommate, told him that we are switching accounts, and that lucky ass punk got 6-70's, 4-60's, 3 of my 5 warriors I'm multi-boxing with, all of which are 7 of the 9 classes in the game in exchange for his 1 level 67 human paladin >: ( . But O well sometimes life sucks and at least now when I walk around in capital cities I don't have to dread and worry about, 'damn it I hope the 10 annoying little kids following me around don't report me for something stupid and a GM figures it out.'
