I switched from sodas to tea & coffee for my caffeine, actually, when I stopped drinking soda I actually gave up caffeine entirely for 2 months (hardest 2 months of my life!)
Mostly I drink water though, around 2-3L per day. More if I work out.

Anyone know if you can get diabetes from drinking too much softdrink?
Triathlons are hard core bro !!! I have been serously running for the past year and been in pretty good shape the past decade. While I have not done any triathlons I did run 2 marathons this past season and plan on running 5 this next year. Drop me a line if you have questions on running long distances. And if anyone is in the San Antonio area I will be there in Nov for thier 1st Rock -N- Roll Marathon.
Good Luck on the training !!!!
And oh yeah your "DIET" is major important !!!!
Marathoning: the triumph of desire over reason
P90X may be an option for training. This is not a beginner's workout so you should be in decent shape to start.
well first things first. type 1 could affect anyone, pretty much, if they are genetically predisposed. Altho most people get it in childhood or early puberty (It can occur at any age though)Originally Posted by 'Tasty',index.php?page=Thread&postID=63838#post638 38
Your immune system normally creates antibodies designed to attack bacteria etc. As this can be classed as an auto-immune disease, it is suggested that in a person suffering from Type1D, the immune system creates antibodies that attack parts of your pancreas (stopping insulin production). There is often a trigger such as a virus involved and you usually you have to be genetically predisposed to the disease.
Although I think that the exact conditions to get type1D is still not fully understood.
Typ1D = nothing to do with softdrinks
Type2D on the other hand is almost always (there have been some very rare exceptions) a direct result of obesity and malnutrition.
To answer your question tho: a bit of yes, but mostly NO.
NO because it is not a direct cause of diabetes. If you otherwise eat a relatively health diet, do some exercise, are not overweight etc, then no, even eating lots of sugar regularly will not cause it.
It wont help matters, if you are overweight, do no exercise etc but it is not a direct cause. It only is a cause in the sense that it will add to your calorie intake, weight and malnutrition (if that is all you eat) which in turn can cause diabetes. But as such, no.
So if you are overweight, do no exercise, and apart from a sugar obsession, don't eat healthily, then yes it may cause it, and you should stop taking in as much sugar, look into a good diet and exercise routine, loose some weight and then, if you wish to carry on with it, begin your sugar obsession again^^ (although not entirely recommended)
That's all I know on it so myselfso I hope i haven't made some silly mistake. Pls correct me if I'm wrong

a 1 man 24 hour ration pack contains 5000 calories and is plenty in temperate climes even for the Royal Marines. Arctic Rations however have 7000 calories :)Originally Posted by 'Ðeceased',index.php?page=Thread&postID=63007#post 63007
used to do the old 8 mile (12.8Km) Combat Fitness Test in 72 minutes that is with helmet, rifle (we are talking SLR (FN FAL) here not the SA80) and 44lbs of kit... damn I miss the days when I wasn't 3.5 st overweight... still I have my bike and the mountains here to try and get through it ;)

I'm a little concerned, because I'm acctually inclined to apply just for the traininginch:
For now I'll see if i can use any of their training methods at home :P although it's going to be hard to fit 4-8 hours of workout into my 24 - 12 (for work) - 8 (for sleep) - 2 (6xeating) = 2hour day
