Default Dell Quad Cores $609 each (Q6600,2G,80G,

Just FYI for those looking for boxes, monitorless dell quadcore boxes can be had for $609 each.

Start here, strip the system down, upgrade to a Q6600, 2G RAM, 80G Disk

It comes with a 128M 8300. If you crank the graphics on your slave boxes to the bare minimum, this might be playable, or you can rip it out and replace it with something better.

I run 2 copies of wow, plus other things like browsers on my Q6600 and don't have much trouble. If you put in a serious video upgrade, you might even be able to get 3 or 4 slave copies running.

I have an XPS700 and im getting a free motherboard upgrade from Dell to the XPS720 motherboard. They are offering the quad core cpu's at a 25% discount if you want one with this program as well.

Im seriously thinking about getting a quad core cpu and maybe useing VMware or Virtual PC to slave 4 accounts on one box instead of 5 different systems like I have now.

Good luck running WoW within VMware, I never managed to get it working, after persisting for the best part of three days :-|

Same, it fails at DX 9.

Hard to believe that vmware, citrix, and windows vm all cannot do this. Little wine seems to do a spiffy job.

I can see fullscreen, but windowed? Come on ...

Hey if you figure it out - please let me know.

    Wine is not an emulator

Give it some time.... I would love to see this working with DX9 but as far as I know, nothing can do this in a VM (yet).
