I question the ability to use this for DirectX or Open GL..... and USB has fairly limited bandwidth. I think this is more geared at adding an extra amount of 2d desktop space (which IS nice) than adding extra monitors for gaming.

Ya I guess the statement "no on board gpu" kinda hints its limited function. But if your gpu can render a screen size 2X normal cant this output 1/2 of that to another monitor. It seems it uses the gpu in the computer to render and just sends bitmaps (compressed to get over the usb bandwidth limitations) to other screens. I use one monitor per computer (6 monitors and 6 computers) so not really know about multiple monitors from one computer stuffs. The question is can your gpu do 4000 X 1200 or whatever needed humm...
