There are advantages AND disadvantages to multi-boxing. It is an alternative playstyle that honestly does not offer tremendous advantages to the multi-boxer, if anything, it's usually a greater challenge.

The are also a few key differences between multi-boxing and power-leveling or gold buying:

1. It is not against our Terms of Use, whereas the exchange of virtual items for real world currency is.

2. There are trade offs for a multi-boxer, and those that know how can completely ruin a multi-boxers day - it is not the 'across the board' advantage that you seem to believe that it is. A player that purchases gold selling circumvents in-game mechanics for a specific and unilateral advantage.

3. Significant financial investment only makes multi-boxing possible. In and of itself, that expenditure does not result in a real gain for any of the involved characters. [ Post edited by Malkorix ]

I love how people think it's completely idiotic to "sink" money into a game. Newsflash for you, time is money. Just like not everyone has as much money to invest in something, also do others simply not have the time to invest in something. I don't understand why someone can think it's ok to spend (solve for x here) hours of your life into a game, but then turn around and say it's idiotic to spend money.
