    Default Splitting a single monitor?

    hola!

simple question.. whats the best way to provide real-time display and control of 5 PC's on one monitor? i managed to find a hardware KVM that would do the job.. but it only has 4 ports and it was almost USD4,000! is there any kind of remote desktop software or (less expensive) XVGA splitter that someone could recommend? happy to spend a few hundred on a unit but like AUD7,000+ seems a bit excessive to me.. thats more than my entire pc/monitor setup cost just by itself.

i pretty much want the same setup as a lot of the multibox threads suggest, except id like to run multiple low resolution desktops (say 800x600) on a high res 30" LCD and be able to switch between them with hotkeys and use keyclone to broadcast keystrokes to all. for example, split the display monitor into 6 equal sized partition, each with its own input from a PC (5 WoW's and 1 misc for browsing/music/msn/etc).

did that make sense? i hope so =D

Hmm. Remote Desktop? But performance is not so good.

Maybe you could screencast and stitch the video onto 1 display, and use Synergy for control...

You COULD real time encode them and stream them over your network. That is what I would do if you can't buy 5 monitors. There will be a small amount of video lag.

You also can run all 5 on 1 cpu, with 4 minimized... with good enough hardware (video card, ram) you could even leave them open.
