Default Question about setting up new accounts (wow)

With the refer a friend section in account management, is it against the TOS to refer yourself? so you can get 3/4 trial accounts from your main account.

Also if you can do this, if you then purchase 3/4 wow boxes and bc packs can you just upgrade the trial accounts to full accounts using the boxes?

    thanks for any help

You can refer yourself. As far as I know its never been an issue.
Yes you can upgrade the trial accounts or do it online without even buying the boxes. You may have to email or call them to get the completely trial limation lifted earlier even after you punch in your codes though. For example my level restriction was removed but I still couldn't join a guild until they verified things and pressed the big red easy button.

Hmmm.... I didn't see anywhere on the WoW website that lets you upgrade your trial account to a normal account without buying the boxes separately. It says that you can purchase WoW through any number of retailers, but it doesn't give you the option to just pay them for a cd key. Please let me know if you can do this, I'm planning on buying 3 WoW battlechests (just dual boxing now, about to 5 box) before this weekend since I didn't think that you could do this through WoW.

just login to the account management console for the trial account should be in a banner across the top to "upgrade to full" or something like that. howeve ri think its cheaper to go by battlechests if your gonna purchase the expansion too

Cool, found it, thanks. Looks like it's about $10 cheaper to buy the battlechest, but it's less of a hassle to just do it through account management. Plus, my wife would give me a funny look if I come home with 3 boxes of the same game, maybe I'll just toss them in the trash before I get in the house and after I copy down the CD key...

I've got a related query (and I did check the account page, but couldn't see anything).

Money is a bit tight at the moment, so I a) don't have a stellar machine and b) can't afford 3 more full copies of WoW. That being said I have a few days of holiday coming up and am curious to see if I can run 5 WoWs without blowing up my computer. Logical way would be 3x trial accounts through Recuit a Friend.

What I wasn't sure about it if there is a time limit on the switch from trial -> full regarding getting the 30 days free for the main (I know I have to set up the trial 1 month from the referral, but wasn't sure about any limit on then upgrading it to full.

My idea was to get 3 trials set up now whilst I have time to play them, but it would be a good few months before I would be able to upgrade them to full copies, so I'm wondering if anyone knows a) if I'd still get the 30 days free (90 days total) and b) if the trial accounts will actually stay there that long. I know full accounts remain almost indefinately, but I didn't know if trial accounts get deleted after a period of non-conversion.

    a) No.

    b) No. It's a 10-day trial...well, at least here in Australia. It'll definitely 10 days here, but thinking on it again, I can't say I actually know whether the account will simply lock or actually close down. Presumably it must, at some point, close down.

Hmm thinking about it I might just give it a try, you get 5 refer-a-friends to try so worst case scenario is the trial accounts get deleted, but stay on as referrals, in which case I can just make 2 more from my main account and 1 from my alt account when I have the funds to get 3 more full accounts.
