    Default Carbonite comparability.

I've been having some issues and I think I have finally figured this out. In summary the issue is that config.wtf is not saving properly. I use a mod called Carbonite, this mod is commercial and they have some encrypted text in the config.wtf file that confirms your copy is validated. I think KeyClone is not re-saving the file back to disk after the point it encounters the garbled text causing the issue.

Would it be possible to change KeyClone such that non-standard text is supported?

    Thank you.

sure, not a problem... i would just need to a sample file

    could you copy/paste it here?

You want the encrypted text? It is just a bunch of crazy symbols.

My suggestion would be to treat the file as a binary buffer and just modify the areas you are interested in and preserve the rest as-is.

    oh.. binary??

ok... my guess would be, if carbonite is creating a digi-signature within the file in an attempt to safeguard against changes... any mods i make to the file.. will invalidate the digi-signature (which is what carbonite is doing)

do you think that's what it's doing?

I'm sorry, I think I might have confused the issue.

Carbonite uses some kind of encryption on the config.wtf file, wow can save/load this file even tho it probably doesn't understand the encrypted part. The whole binary thing was me just giving a suggestion on a possible way to solve the problem. I was suggesting you treated this file as a binary buffer, chopping and stitching back in the parts you are interested in. Kind of how buffered text editors work, this way KeyClone doesn't need to know or care about the rest of the file. Anyway this is tough to explain! For now I got around the problem by making all clones have their own directories and KeyClone no longer edits my config.ctf file but this is costing a lot of disk space =)

I'm asking for help on the Carbonite forums as well I want to see if they can share more information on what they are doing.

Thanks for the awesome fast replies by the way.

I use Carbonite and I just did a test with Keyclone and all was working fine for me.

Carbonite encodes some values in bogus entries in the config.wtf. They are all text editor friendly characters though they are not in the realm of your standard ascii codes.

I've had no problems with Carbonite and Keyclone and have been using it quite extensively for a week now.
