    Default New multi-boxer requires advice!!!

    Hi Guys,

I used to play Eq2 boxing my wives character but just running two monitors keyboards etc...

I have now switched to wow and currently drag around my wives healer and do the same.

I also box ocassionally with wow and already have 3 accounts

Now I am REALLY wanting to get a 5 man boxing session together after reading and watching all the vids on here!!!!!

    Being a gamer I already have the following spec PC;

    Dell XPS 720H2C
    Stripe raid
    4 Gb Ram
    Quad core Extreme
    2 x 7800 GTX cards
    22" monitor

I also have access to my wives PC, XPS420 however she will more than likely be playing with me
I also have a spare laptop, however this only has 1Gb ram and centrino

    I have downloaded keyclone!!!

Now what would you suggest is the best OS, (I may go 8Gb if I get obsessed with this )

32bit vs 64 bit, Vista or XP?? - Looking to do a clean install.

Will I beable to run them all on my one rig?? If so what graphics settings do I need, i.e quality etc.....

    Is keyclone the best option??

I am currently on Argent Dawn, however I am keen to join a guild with fellow boxes so we can raid together etc... so suggestions here would be cool!!! Also probably need help with my macros

Any advice on classes, seems main tank and casters is popular??

    Great community by the way!!!

    Thanks in advance

    Scott

using 5 wow accounts on my xps1730 with firefox running in the back I only use up 60% of my 4gigs. No need for 8.

your system should hold 5 accounts with out much problems on 1 pc.

Hello and welcome to multiboxing ^_^

There's an excellent writeup that answers many of your questions in this post, located in the "New Multi-Boxers & Support" forum.

    Good luck.
    Code:
    While( Party.Level < 80 ) { canSleep = False; } //meh

I'm running 5-accounts at the moment on a dual core with 2 gigs. I slow down a little in capital cities to be sure but really not by much. Your system easily outclasses my current one (my new one back in the shop atm), so I can't see that you'd need to add anything to it.

As for OS, for you, I'd go Vista64. Unless you use a 64bit OS, you won't see all that memory of yours, and XP64 is too obscure leading to lots of driver issues.
...for when one toon just isn't enough...

Take into account that wow is almost 3 years old, and it is targeted at a very generic audience, therefore you don't need a uber machine like you would need to play something like crysis ;-)

However, you do need a computer that can handle multiple instances of WoW. What you have is more then enough, and 8 gigs of RAM is likely to give you more trouble then it is worth (usually a boost on memory voltage is needed).

    As for the OS:

XP is certainly not as bloated as Vista
32 bit can only address 4 Gigs of memory space. When you take into account the other devices in your computer, anywhere in between 3 and 3.5 gets to be used.

So the ideal would be 64-bit XP, however, as others have said, support, specially driver support, doesn't seem to be that great. If you currently have XP 32 bit, I suggest you try with that and see how it goes. If you really want to upgrade, then 64 bit vista would be the better option (home premium is fine, ultimate is overpriced and gamers don't benefit any from the extra features).
