Where is the lag coming from?

I run 5 clients on one computer, and i have a great deal of lag when trying to access one specific realm (Doomhammer) but not two other realms (Wildhammer, Terokkar). Both Terokkar and Doomhammer are in the same datacenter (New York) and I'm in Austin.

When I'm on Doomhammer, two of the clients will be green (50-75 ms lag) and the other 3 will be red (1000+ lag), which makes it almost impossible to play. It tends to be worse during the day, but happens often at night as well.

My quesiton is, where is that lag caused? On my machine? My local wireless network? My ISP? Something specific with the realm (it's medium pop, Terokkar is high)?

I don't know where to start to try and fix my problem. The entire reason I rolled on Doomhammer was to play with other boxers, which now I can't do.

I might have figured it out as I was typing.

There was a small launcher patch a week or two ago, which coincided with my arrival in outland, which also coincided with my lag problem. Only two of my clients got the patch.

I just ran the launcher & updated the other 3 launchers. I'll test tonight and see if that solves my problem.

I'm pretty sure it was related to having the patch on 2 out of 5. I played for a bit tonight and all 5 were green the entire time.

Problem solved.
