Default Using your 70 main to level up alt toons on second account..

I recently decided to start dual-boxing my two WoW accounts.

I am not using any special hardware or anything, all I am doing right now is simply controlling two computers with two keyboards and two mice. I had started leveling up two characters at the same time with a warrior to tank and then on the second machine/account I had a healer that I just made some macros to keep on follow and heal the tank.

I decided though that I wanted to focus on just leveling up one of my alts and started using my 70 Druid to mow through the mobs oneshotting them (BoomKin FTW). Anyway I have some questions in this regards.

First off is there any way to do a macro in WoW that will loot? I tend to cause my secondary character to lose follow when I loot. Usuaully I let the 70 do all of the looting except when it comes to collection quest.

Also instead of letting my druid mow the mobs down maybe I shouldn't even have her in the party but instead just follow and heal my alt when he needs it. I am averaging only 11xp per mob when grouped with my 70.

    What would you guys suggest?

    Hi

Here you can find lots of infos about kickin up a toon with a high level:

For looting I'd prefer to setup the group with lootmaster so you can put the BOP boss-items directly into the bag of your toon and collect the "crap-items" with your main char.

This should be the easiest way without loosing the follow up.

Awesome thanks for the help. Never tried Lootmaster before, will try it tonight.

I have found that using a druid carebear works well, but not in the way you are doing it. Control the lowbie and have him do the killing. Use your druid (ungrouped) for buffs and heals, Faerie Fire, and possibly switching to Dire Bear and taunting off your lowbie, without doing damage.

Sorry, don't know what to tell you about looting. Get the lowbie some Imbued Netherweave Bags?

    Good luck!

If you get into practice of keeping your slave's mouse at a certain position, or use software that will put it there on a key press, you can easily have an alt loot for you. With the current interface options its just a right click and it will do everything. Obviously using /ffa free for all.

Depending on your class makeup this can be easily done while the alt is in tow.

True about the gear. I had been worrying about gear for the alt went I was 2boxing toons at the same level.

I figured that below 40 there are enough quest in different zones that I can world hope zones doing all of the quest in each zone of the appropriate level and not have to worry too much about the huge XP loss from the using the 70 to kill mobs. After 40 though when the quest start to get thin, that would be another issue.

Another thing I figure is that even though I am only getting around 11xp per kill I am flying though heavy mobbed areas doing mass killings that are quickly adding up. Sure it may take 15 kills to equal the XP of a single kill, but going through the Furblogs in Ashenvale for example where you can hardly move without stepping on a mob it is easy to one-shot 25 mobs within a minutes time before going OOM or running out of mobs.

I have also been thinking about towing the alt along with me as I farm in the Outlands. Of course I will have to use caution not to get into areas where there are groups of mobs that I can't aggro before the alt level aggros.

I think tonight I am going to start a test. I am going to start with 2 level 1 alts, the first I will group with my 70 and allow the 70 to one-shot and the other I will not group with my 70 but instead just have the /follow and be a buff/heal bot and only attack when elites are involved. I will keep track of the /played and see at say level 20 what each is.

I figured that if I don't spend time traveling to a trainer on the one that alt that will be grouped and have the 70, nor will I worry about anything but keeping them alive that I will save a good deal of time.

I did 27 to 35 in SM and only looted the boss drops ever. Anything else slows you down too much IMO. I'm killing mana surges now, so no loot to worry about
I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A bird will fall frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.

You have a good point other than the occasional world BOE blues (managed to pick up 3 the other night powerleveling/dual-boxing) all of the loot you pick up doesn't amount to what I can farm at 70 in an hour farming primals.

Has anyone here taken a very low level toon with them to the outlands via a port to shat and farmed with the lowbie in tow? If so how did it go? How much XP did you get per mob?

With a group of 4 low level alts and a L70 mage, you make on average 1/2 a level of XP per full clear of Ragefire Chasm, which takes around 10-15 minutes. You get more than 1/2 a level at L8 - probably 3/4 of a level or more, but less and less up to about L17 or so.

Note: You will actually get quite a bit more XP with a group of 4 low levels and 1 L70, than you will with just 1 low level and a L70, thanks to the way XP splitting and group bonus XP works.

Well I may have to look up some other lowbies to run through low level instances. Considering the number of tells I get the moment I walk into Westfall from people begging for runs that shouldn't be hard to do.
