So I sent via UPS a computer (my older gaming one.. 3.4ghz intel HT) pretty nice comp 2-3 years back.. and still pretty good now..

well the computer arives DOA.. doesn't work all dead.... thank god for being overinsured

So now got about $1000 heading my way to replace it.. any thoughts on ways to go building or buying a prebuilt or barebones?

any suggestions and thoughts are appreciated.

Build it yourself. Better/more bang for your buck, prebuilts SUCK. Period. :P Parts're cheap nowadays and it's really not that hard to put one together if you bother to read and have the internet to look up anything you're unsure of or ask someone about as you do it via another comp.

what they are going to do is keep the DOA computer minus the harddrive.
