Account creation problems, Different Names...

So I recently ran into a problem with my name, it's a long story but when I was born I was a Junior and my mom later left my father and decided that wouldn't fly, so she renamed me... not legally, just started calling me something else. Last week I went to get a passport and found out this is an issue, since all my ID says the name I've used since I was 2, and my birth certificate says something different...

So in my research I have found the solution for those of you who have accounts with invalid names on them!

First, go down to your department of health and get your birth certificate if you don't have one... this cost me $15...
Second, go down to the clerk of court and file for a name change... this cost me $100... I did have to get paperwork notorized, which was tricky without any ID saying that I'm the guy trying to change my name, but the gal believed me... of course who could make this story up?
Wait 30 days, because in real life, the cooldown comes BEFORE the name change!
Appear in court 31 days later and have your name changed to whatever you want... pay $30 in Iowa to update your birth certificate...

This is what I had to do for my passport, but I figure you could do the same thing to fix your wow accounts too... for only $290 and 60 days you could change your name, change it back and have the paperwork you need to fix your account...

Hopefully this is the end all be all of account name issue solutions .

Interesting that you got rid of 'Junior'... you're still your Fathers son, are you not? I only inquire because I'm the "third" and my parents are divorced... so what? I'm still the 3rd person in a line of a family.

Pssh you're telling me about Fraud. I've twice had to get my Fathers stuff off my credit report. You used to work for them, so tell me this...

On the report, it lists the lines of credit and the SSN associated with that line. If they associate 1 SSN with 1 person then why in the fuck don't they check SSN's on a report? It clearly lists HIS SSN every time theres a problem.

Just to add onto what Fur said, Fraud's surprisingly common too...I work primarily in airline-related chargebacks, and I'll tell you right now that 90% of them consist of fraud if not more. It's less common with retail but christ identity thieves buy plane tickets like 5cent candy at the corner market...so I can see how that can be a nightmare for the fraud solving teams lol

It was more than dropping the Junior, first and middle names changed. I have no idea why she left the last name after doing that...

best part? You call social security for help - they tell you to piss off. I'm like "does this number belong to john doe" - they say "can't help you, *click*".

Don't I know it. I had to go to their office and ask about my Dad's SSN on my credit report, because I needed to prove that I was in fact NOT my father <vader>Luuuuke, I am your fatttther</vader>. They were a pain in the ass.
