    Default Mage and Pally boosting

From reading around the forums and the wiki seems like the mage and pally are the two top classes to crush instances with for leveling your boxing team. I noticed that from time to time people insisted the pally was better for this purpose. I am not exactly clear on why. I will tell you what sense i made of it.

From what i can gather both the mage and the pally will both be able to clear the instance faster than others and with zest, but that the pally will be a bit faster than the mage. The pally will be faster than the mage because they can pull greater numbers of mobs all at once. Part that i am undecided on is the dps of their aoe? Can the pally really kill all the mobs they have pulled as fast as the mage even if the mage needs more pulls? Seems like the dps on the mage would be far better? From what i can gather the pally needs to be spec for prot but then in some healing or spell damage gear to make it work.

So a prot spec pally in healing gear is the way to go but a mage will work too if you are short on pallys?

So, do you think consecrate scales infinitely with the number of mobs in the pull?

Just an FYI i will be in Dallas TX beginning on the 23rd and running down to the 27th of this month.

I think that consecration affects all the mobs around the pally yes. If consecration is the ticket i think that they need some spell damage on it to make those consecrations worth while.

    Love the matrix bit.

    Good times, good times

Its not only just consecration. Throw a shield spike on the paladins shield and stack block rating gear, retribution aura and blessing of sanctuary. Single pull most instances through SM:Cath without a problem.

Mistakes are also a LOT more forgiving as well with a protection paladin than it is with a mage. With a mage if you get stuck, nova is on cooldown or you run out of mana the number of mobs that would hit you would eat through the cloth like nothing. With a protection paladin you have time to see what is wrong and make adjustments while your being pounded on.

    Got it. Prot Pally FTW!

The 5-box i want to run would be x3 dwarf hunter, x1 holy spec dwarf priest, and x1 prot spec dwarf paladin. I know that to boost we are talking about a pally that is already 70 and in good gear, but that is the five box i am wanting to run.

that is definitely a viable setup for a 5man group! YOu can use that to level the pally, and then after you hit 70 you can use the pally to boost future groups. GL!

Thanks! I originally got into WoW when some free time in my life opened up and a group of friends who play a bunch of mmo games invited me to try out wow. So to begin with i really had no idea what i was doing. Now with multi-boxing i am back in that boat. Along the way my hunter hung out in the 29 bracket of bg for a long time untwinked. Then he twinked and then he went 39 and now he is going 49 for bg. I know hunter pvp (at those levels at least) very well. I love the hunter.

I did worry a bit about the complexity of the hunter class for boxing and macroing all the keys and such. All the shots, all the traps, and then all the melee abilities. I know the melee abilities are not where a hunter wants to be... but if i get stuck then i need to make use of the melee abilities while i get back out to range. All of this plus the other extra bits like FD and such. I think it will be a challenge but i want to give it a go.

I have rolled horde so far, my hunter is an orc. But my problem is i don't like the blood elf and they are the only horde race that can be a pally. I really miss the awesome horde racials for pvp. I really like the all dwarf group idea though and that is what i have started out with. I have the three hunters at level 12 and they all got the really great looking redskin lynx cat from the blood elf starting lands.

Take both a mage and a paladin, this method only works if u are boosting 1-3 chars tho. Check this power leveling video out =).

SImply u have the paladin pull everything, then on 30% the mage leaves the grp and frost nova all, paladin runs out of the instance, and mage kills everything = 100% ex to ur alts.

Actually, for that method, the mage has to leave the group before any dmg is done to the mobs i think.
