For shaman teams - 2piece tidefury worth it?

I am gearing my pali tank up for heroics, and and figured whilst doing so it might be worth grabbing a couple pieces of tidefury for the 2peice set bonus.
link to my current shammy gear setup: Cyraani et al (Summary: s1 helm/gloves/rings, blue pvp starter set otherwise). I am currently farming Totem of the Void(s) as well.

Question: Do you think the set bonus is worth it, and if so do you have recommendations on which pieces to shoot for?

cool thanks for the input. I was mostly thinking of that little extra burst in PvP, but upon further reflection it seems likely that I will outgrow the set in much shorter time then outfitting all 4 shams would take.

Besides - a straight lightning bolt spam will pump out more DPS than rotation with chain lightning in it.

3x lightning bolt + 1x chain lightning rotation = max elemental shaman dps

The only time a lightning bolt only spam will have a chance of out DPSing the 3/1 rotation is with T6, ~40% crit and ~500 haste

LB, 2 sec cast, max base damage=643
CL, 1.5 sec cast, max base damage=838x3

There is no way at all that it is possible for a straight LB spam to out DPS a LB/CL rotation until you get enough haste that the casts are the same speed (1 sec) and you are in a fight that lasts more than 5 min.

I get ~1200-1500 DPS with a CL/LB rotation. I get ~900 DPS from LB spam

If your LB/CL rotation is creating less DPS than straight LB you are letting time lapse between key presses.

im curious if you use a castsequence macro for your dps cycle or if you use some other method

ive heard that castsequence has a built-in server-side delay and that may make straight LB-spam better with /cast

that might be just hearsay though.

I don't use a cast sequence, CL isn't suitable for all occasions.... I don't much like hitting CC mobs (I thought Blizz was going to make it so that didn't happen anymore, but it still does)

I just manually mash the keys.

I use quartz to compensate for my latency also.

To enlighten the unenlightened: What is quartz?

In 2.0 Blizz changed a few things with casting and latency (mainly because people where complaining about people that use quartz).

Quartz still shows the latency, however, you no longer have to do /stopcasting, just spam the button. The server will cast again as soon as the previous spell is finished.... The server also queues for about 1/4 sec. You do not need quartz for this... quartz just makes it so you don't have to pound your keyboard into the ground.
