If you change the CAPTCHA to something more simple then bots will sign up.

I suppose if someone with enough PHP knowledge and knows their way around Burning Board you can do a basic one where you choose alliance or horde like "Which one is the orc?" and click it.

And then someone can do a pixel color test on one coordinate to figure out which it is without human interaction. I agree though, CAPTCHA is a pet peeve of mine. Every time I fail one of those because the letters chosen aren't clear enough for a human to read, it makes me want to toss my keyboard out a window.
