New To Multiboxing - Some Questions About Setup

My PC specs are:
Graphics: RTX 2080 Ti
Processor: i9-9900k
RAM: 32 GB
Motherboard: ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI)
I'd like to know if I can run a full 5 team multibox.
I'd also like to know the total cost to boost all toons to 120 and include all current and future expansion plus 12 months of game time each.
Like is that the normal procedure of starting a multibox?
Also I'm looking for an experienced multiboxer to mentor me on this, will be compensated.

Assuming 2 x monitors (get a 144 hz, 1ms, ips or similar for the main game atleast (& if you can afford it, get 3 monitors, so you watch the web / netflix etc on its own seperate monitor)), dirext-x 11 legacy, 1080p, slaves on settings 1 with some settings increased, main game on its own monitor, with increased settings to your pcs ability... slaves limited to 60 fps+++ front / 25-30 fps back and main limited to 60+++ front / 25-30 fps back... this pc will work quite well for 5. Its a decent pc.

Ideally down the line, if you want more fidelty etc, you want to assign atleast 2 cores and 2 threads per game (f.ex amd ryzen 9 3900x, then leave the first 4 cores in isboxer unassigned (its the first 2 cores and its 2 hyperthreaded cores) for win10.

(optimum down the line would be 4 cores and 4 threads per game, + then get 64 gb of ram (if you want to play at even higher settings / resolution, and if you can afford it).

But you current pc is a decent pc.

When you buy the heroic wow complete game version, it comes with a lvl 110 and a lvl 120 boost per game.
its 80 euros per game.. (80 x 5 games = 400 euros) + 132 euros per year (2 x 6 months subs) x 5 games = 660 euros.

So it will cost you 1060 euros to play for 1 year from now on.

After that first year, its 660 euros onwards per year, in subs, untill you need to buy 5 new expansions down the line.


*do note that each game comes with 30 days of free game game, so you can wait to subscribe, you have 30 days to decide what you want to do.. if you are unsure you can sub on a month per month basis instead.




Now, how much / what sort of compensation and time needed are we talking about here? If you are brand new, this wont be easy. Depends heavily on what sort of goal you have with your first team of 5.

But honestly, my advice for getting started is to start with low level teams and build up your setup as you go, any jumping to the end is likely to just be confusing.

My goal is to be able to play end game by myself and not need to be so in the community. I don't have the time to be but I do have the money.

The reason that there aren't any such services for what you want is because:

1) The amount of time required in order to set up any multiboxing program is going to outweigh what you, or anyone else, is willing to pay.
2) A setup is never considered "done," and so you'd have to keep someone on payroll in order for them to keep updating your setup.

When i first started, i used a couple hours every afternoon, watching the various video guides, reading the isboxer wiki pages and took a metric ton of notes and THEN spent even more time each afternoon to learn, tweak and finetuned my isboxer profile, keybinds, addons, addonsettings etc. Id say it took me around 3 months to become pretty good at everything (note, i had not invested time getting to know the vfx system at that stage).

And i still was learning new stuff all the time after that. And my mind still gets blown over everything thats possible.

What you are asking for is basically help to reach the pinnacle of 5man multiboxing. Very few has reached / bothered to make that long effort. As you might imagine, various bosses etc could require a spesific custom solution to overcome. The macro capasity ingame is tiny, so you will have to use isboxer to store the custom macros.

Remember, you have to play the tank, healer and 3 dps at the same time. And with that comes the need of knowing basically every faset of any given encounter, in order to overcome it, at higher difficulties. We are talking split seconds decision making when it comes to interupts, clensing, decursing, stacking up, spreading out, individual character movements etc etc.

I could write a book about the journey, but its one best learned by trial and error yourself.

Sure, you can get started by getting some minor but really helpfull starting tips, by someone, but prepare for that this is a playstyle that takes time to learn.

Id suggest that you start with setting up your team and just start playing the game. If you decide to boost toons to lvl 120, you could find the wowhead bfa starter guide and go from there: questing thru the bfa content is quite enjoyable.

You will also spend a lot of time at the training dummies, finetuning your keybinds, macros, various settings etc.

I think this really does involve a metric ton of learning by doing - and then redoing - and then relearning. It's such an iterative process, I don't think you could really shortcut it. If you tried, you'd just hamstring yourself long term as each time you hit some barrier, you wouldn't have the background knowledge on how you solved it before. You really need to learn the foundational stuff yourself - and there's no better teacher than repetition along side experience and trial and error.

There's also a fair amount of figuring out when good enough is actually good enough and when it isn't - that largely depends what exactly you're trying to do in-game. There's almost always some way you can keep improving your setup. But many of us get to the point where what we have is working well enough for the content that we enjoy doing that we don't bother.

As slow a start as it may seem, its not that bad. Create some level 1's. Figure out how to get your basic movement down in the starting zone. Then dig into some basic combat (still in the starting zone). Before you know it you'll be questing away and feeling pretty confident. Then you'll run your 1st dungeon and realize everything you thought you were doing OK at isn't really good enough and you'll iterate again.

I'd go so far as saying that if you don't enjoy this sort of iterative process of continual experimentation and improvement - then multiboxing may not be the sport for you.

That and I think this forum in particular tends to folks much older and much better off financially than the standard WoW forum. My guess is that many of us here are middle-aged professionals. Your offer of financial incentive would probably go much further in other circles. Its kinda like why I brew my own beer - its not because I like cheap beer.
