5 Box Play Help and Level Set Expectations Support

Hi all, long time lurker and returning player to WoW. I wanted to reach out to the community for help, understanding and leveling my expectations. see tldr; below if you want to skip

A little background, long time EQ player since classic / Kunark era and I played WoW at launch for a year or so and later played the LK. I have just about always boxed EQ and for the last several years used ISboxer to do so. However I have never boxed in WoW.

I recently started playing a 5 box team of 1War, 2XBM, 1 mage (arcane) and a restro druid with the intention of being able to run dungeons and do harder group world content.

I purchased the new expansion preorder which came with boosts and decided to boost the team to 120. Based on my past experience and how easy the normal dungeons were I figured I can go through them on normal and learn / relearn the tips and tricks.

I decided with 5 iLvl 380 toons and some abilities setup I would go check out Shadowfang Keep (I think heroic) where I promptly go my arse beat and died quit a few times (with lots of healer mana lol).

Did a little more research and found GEN2 and lazy macros which helped simplify things. I'm using Grid2, Clique for healing via druid. With lazy macros I am getting around 6k to 7k DPS from hunters and mage on elites which seems ok I guess?

I changed out the druid for a holy priest using a 110 boost because I didn't like iwt and melee with the druid. I tried some green colored dungeon that we could all join and got worked in there with lots of deaths. Priest healing and the heal macro seemed to work really well, just encountered lots of AOE poison or something that tore me up.

tldr;

1. Should I have been able to easily do Shadowfang Keep with a group of new boosted 120 on Heroic?
2. Is the dps ok @ 6K for new boosted char
3. Are there any boxing tips or advice using IsBoxer
4. What should I focus on right now to improve the group to be more viable in dungeons and which should I focus on that are boxer friendly?

Lastly any other direction or resources?

You took a newly boosted team of 120s to a level 85 Heroic dungeon in Silverpine Forest, and you couldn't complete it? I just want to clarify this bit here, since it's likely going to dictate what advice people could to give you.

Yes, basically I know I suck lol. I got through the 1st section and then into the keep near the kitchen? Had an issue with that guy as he brought adds in and wiped the team. I just thought it was odd to have so much trouble. I think with the priest and better macros it should be much easier.

I think I will continue to use the priest and just learn through it. I need to start using cures and better use of targeted AE heals. My approach has mostly been zergish. Ill start at the beginning and the easiest dungeons to learn through them one by one.

Id like to stick with Warrior but I wonder if its better to go Paly while I learn more of the game. Would be a little more forgiving I think?

After reading your post I actually went there on a fresh level 120 with good gear from the previous expansion (iLvl 221), to check if there was some odd anomaly with scaling in the heroic version of the dungeon, but, as expected, the enemies in there are level 85 and my auto-attacks kill almost everything in one hit, other than the bosses, who have taken three auto-attacks to kill. So, if you were struggling in this dungeon with five characters at level 120 (iLvl 380), I am honestly not sure what advice could be given, and I am questioning whether or not you're referring to the correct dungeon.

This isn't a question about whether you're bad at the game, it's that what you're saying just doesn't line up reality.

EDIT: To put this further into perspective, I went to the final boss of SFK (Heroic), turned my back to him so that he had a better chance to hit me, and I went AFK for about 20 minutes—this is the result (50% health on a DPS Fury Warrior).

I don't think you can have DPS that low just auto-attacking. It would take you 64 seconds to kill a single trash mob in that dungeon.

Is your gear red and in need of repair? Coming from another game you might not know you need to keep your gear repaired from dying.

Only other instance with a kitchen would be the kara raid.

Something is off, I just recall using the Dungeon finder and classic dungeon selecting that one. The title was yellow on the list (120). I tried Legion Heroic green title lvl (110) Cathedral of Eternal Night and got worked in there. That was mostly due to the AOE poison or what ever and me not really healing well through it.

Ok, all is good. I just did Atal Dazar on normal and it was easy mode and 400 iLvl gear dropped. This is what I was expecting, at least able to progress somewhat in dungeons while I develop the team. I clearly cant do heroics yet, need more skill and understanding of the mechanics.

There's a HUGE jump in difficulty from normal to heroic. I actually think it's larger than the gap from heroic to mythic.

You're geared enough for heroic, but there are actually mechanics you have to avoid in heroic.
