HotKeyNet a buggy mess?

Hey everyone,

I used HKN for a few days no problems, now suddenly it randomly stops working. It can work flawless for 2 hours and then suddenly stop broadcasting. I then need to restart HKN, and from there it can either work for another 2 hours or die after 2 broadcasts.

I've read about all this "hidden windows" nonsense, but those posts are from 2017-2018 and none of their solutions work for me. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

I never had that issue with it. Maybe you hit scroll lock somehow and turned your hotkeys off? I would suggest you add a hotkey that re-renames all your windows so if it does happen you can try to brute force all the windows and hidden windows back to their correct names. I would also make sure if you do already have a hotkey for that in your script that you also have one to rename them all back to "World of Warcraft" again. Sometimes I would have a hidden window or two not get renamed so i would have to cycle my 2 hotkeys to fix it.. One hotkey to rename them all to Mage1, Mage2, etc...And the other hotkey to rename them all back to World of Warcraft and try again. Sometimes it would take a few cycles of those hotkeys to fix it

Unfortunately hotkeys don't work for renaming my windows, I have to do it manually with SHIFT-R.

Something like this will make the CTRL + R hotkey combination rename your windows. And the ALT + R hotkey combination name them back. You can try cycling through them back and forth a few times and seeing if it can get them unstuck. Each cycle I would try to press it twice or a few more times to catch the hidden windows. You might want to try posting this question on hotkeynet's forum if you still can\t figure it out. Good luck

Yes I've used this script. Nothing happens when I use it.

Hasn't really changed, hidden windows stops broadcasting.

I've started using hotkeynet and have noticed a similar thing. I DID have to do the hidden window thing, but that one is pretty obvious when it's the problem because the windows you run your rename script on won't be named correctly if hidden windows have sniped the proper names (unless you run the rename script twice then it's less obvious)

I honestly don't know what stops the broadcasting, but I HAVE noticed it only really happens if I tab out of a wow client (or sometimes into another wow client :/)

Also when it happens, I notice that if I bring up the hotkeynet window, any time I press a button it makes the windows notification sound as if I'm trying to click on something unavailable when a confirmation window is up... but I can't find any confirmation window. Let me know if you figure it out! I really like hotkeynet and find it easy to use so I'm really hoping that I can figure out how to fix it, and I'll let you know if I figure it out too.
