How do you use ravager?

I have three issues with ravager:

1. I hate having to wait the warrior finishing the channeling in order to follow me out of combat

2. When single target the effect is not that good so I have to interrupt it somehow

3. I need a command to make it uninterruptible when in an aoe situation

What commands/macros do you use combined with ravager?

Problem 1 is the reason that I want to use another weapon, I understand that ravager is way too strong for pack clearing but I don't know how to deal with this delay.

iirc the [channeling] and [nochanneling] modifiers handle the weapon proc.
