Default What does "PuG" stand for?

Ok, not being a native English speaker, I've first come across the term "pug" on a podcast called WoWfactor from a bunch of Australian guys. I figured out what it means, but I still don't know what it actually stands for. Especially, because I often see it written like "PuG" - is it an acronym?
    Please enlighten me. 8)

"pick-up group" would have been a sufficient answer. :S
Anyway, I enjoyed your replies, as they are so true.

I been playing from launch and when we first started saying it, it stood for Players Under Geared.

Nowadays though since easy epix exist I can see how Pick Up Group would be a better acronym.

    PUGs... hmm...

Mages summon cookie-tables and please other players to assist them by clicking on the Portal to IF/SW.

Mages teleport themselfes to Shatt instead of opening a portal for the group.

Tank got time aggroing the mob until the mob is at the tank.
After the tank had the first hit on the mob the DDs start full DPS on each target.

if the skull-symbol means focus fire on the mob the skull will die at last.

huntards need the +healing robe for their pet-healing equipment while the priest breaks down and cries.

if the x-symbol means the mob shall be polymorphed the mage agrees and starts casting a pyro on the x

two ice-traps and a sheep is the sign for the warlock to start dancing the warlock-dance
    tab,dot,dot,tab,dot,dot,tab,dot,dot,...

after the tank got the aggro of each mob to protect the healer it's time for AOE.

sry, couldn't counter the healer..I was casting a pyro!!!

"I thought you were healing"... the moonkin whispered the cat.

    Sure.. I've turned off growling...

Paladins can resurrect? Yeah.. I remember there had been a quest when I was lvl 12.. sry, never made the quest. was too lazy.

yeah I got a shield but wtf is a def-stance?

lol.. out of ankh's .. sorry

Don't worry, I'm a good tank.. we will make this heroic instance without any problems.. yeah.. I've went 70 only five mins ago and respecced, why?

Soulstone after the first group of mobs.. need soul-shards..

why the hell you placed an ice trap in front of murmur???

aspect of nature? holy shit! that is shadow dmg! turn that f*cking aspect off!

Wow, lots of trend zombies that dis pugs just because it's popular here.

Most of the things I see people post about pugs probably only happened like one time ever, or also happens commonly with guild runs.

A lot of the things are just retarded to complain about in pugs. Melee hunter? If it's so bad then you're the moron for not kicking him before the second pull. You stumbled upon an idiot, not a bad pug.
