Looking to see if any of you running EVGA 780i mobo have tried or had problems with the Zalman 9500 / 9700 as your CPU h/s fan.

I just built my wife a new rig with that mobo and a zalman 9700, here is the exat mobo i purchased: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813188024 The northbridge cooling system looks like it was done very well here.
I put those in a thermaltake armor box: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133021
The mobo and the case were both a pleasure to work with, everything is running nice and cool with the zalman. I only had two issues during setup with an "optional" install off the mobo disk that caused a bluescreen and a raid driver on the floppy that comes with the mobo that i choose not to install cause i wasnt doin raid but it is required anyways. So if you do buy this exact mobo feel free to add me to your Xfire and we can exchange numbers if you have any issues I can save you some pain and help you get up and running clean and fast.
my xfire is pimpjuice
Cool, thanks for the info. That is the same mobo I'm looking at buying. Also, the case you mentioned looks very similar to the Cosmos S I'm thinking about getting.
Same mobo here with the Zalman 9700! Fit's fine the only problem I have is the temps on the mobo chipset. THEY ARE FREAKING HOT!!!

Looks like your doin some overclocking :POriginally Posted by 'kermitforney',index.php?page=Thread&postID=53463# post53463
I know my Zalman cooler on my 790i motherboard required the removal of about 1/2" worth of cooling fins on the motherboard to get the hold-down strap tab to clear. I arranged it though so that the fins I removed were from the side that wasn't in direct contact with any of the motherboard components. I have been running cool without any problems.

I installed my new 780i motherboard, Q6600, and Zalman 9700 tonight. I'm clocked at the moment at 333 x 9, and my cores are running between 46 - 48C under load. Are those temps acceptable?
Very acceptable, what's your voltage set at? Is the Zalman fan on Low or High? Have you tried a burn-in with Prime 95 to see what your maximum loaded temps will be?Originally Posted by 'Tamu',index.php?page=Thread&postID=55348#post5534 8
I didn't change any voltages, so they are at defaults (I don't remember atm what it was set at... I'll check tonight after work).
I didn't realize I could change the Zalman fan speed. I'll have to read up on that to figure out how to set it.
I ran 2 concurrent Prime 95 torture tests and the temps jumped to between 53C to 55C across the four cores.
